Millwall were originally founded in 1885 and since then they have become a well known team.

They have won a number of promotions, most recently beating Bradford City at Wembley in 2017 for promotion to the Championship.

Although they've never won it, they reached the FA Cup final in 2004 losing 3-0 to Manchester United on the day but nevertheless, they gained a place in the UEFA Cup as a result.

Millwall now sit in the Championship and ninth in the league. Although they are only four points away from the play-offs, it may be a step too far for them this season however, being up there is a statement of intent going forward.

Their squad at the moment is a fairly experienced one but for now we're going to take a look back and focus on the younger players.

Here, we're looking back at eight of Millwall's best ever academy graduates and seeing where they are now.

Since coming through the Millwall academy, Lyle Taylor has done well.

Although he never made a senior appearance for Millwall, he worked his way up from non-league with Concord Rangers before moving to League One with Bournemouth.

After some more loan spells away, a move to Scotland with Falkirk saw him get regular football before coming back to England.

After a few moves around he found stability at AFC Wimbledon before moving to Charlton which saw him play in the Championship.

Since he moved to Nottingham Forest and at 32-years-old joined Birmingham City on loan in January.

Craig made his debut for Millwall in 2003 and after a number of loan spells away, secured himself a first team place.

After a season away with Crystal Palace, Craig returned to Millwall where he was a regular in the side.

After a spell with Brentford, Craig came back for a third spell at Millwall but after making just four appearances in his final season he moved to Bristol Rovers.

This season he is with Crawley Town and has made 31 appearances so far.

After breaking through to the first team in the 2003-04 season, Elliot made over 100 appearances for Millwall over five seasons.

He moved to Bristol City in the 2007-08 season and was a mainstay in the side for seven seasons before leaving for Crawley Town.

Short stints with Whitehawk and Kingstonian followed before he retired.

Although he didn't play for many sides in his career, Elliot was a successful football at a consistently high level making over 300 league appearances in his career.

Dunne signed his first professional contract with the club in 2000 and made his debut in 2002.

As the years progressed, he solidified his place in the starting line-up and ended up making over 300 league appearances for Millwall before departing for Leyton Orient.

He left Millwall with a record of ten red cards and 85 yellow cards during his time with Millwall.

Dunne then spent two seasons with Leyton Orient in league two but didn't make many appearances so moved to Bromley in the National League.

Despite not playing for many sides, he made over 300 club appearances in his career.

Despite coming through their academy, Wright never made any senior appearances for Millwall before moving to Wolves.

After spending a number of seasons there and a short loan spell at Doncaster, he finally was able to get himself regular football at Crewe Alexandra at the end of the 90s.

Wright then moved to Ipswich Town where he ended up spending five seasons and playing Premier League football with them.

A move to Leeds United followed which involved a loan spell with Millwall where he finally got to make an appearance.

After a few seasons with Southampton, he finished his career at Lewes in non-league.

Wright now spends his time watching his son Drey Wright play for Hibernian.

Eze came through Millwall's academy but was another player never to make a senior appearance for the club and moved to QPR.

Over four seasons with QPR, he built up his place in the side and ended up making over 100 appearances for them.

Last season he moved to Premier League Crystal Palace and was a mainstay in the team.

However after tearing his Achilles last May, he has struggled with his recovery and made only three appearances this season in the FA Cup.

Hopefully he will be fully fit and playing Premier League football again soon.

Marquis made his first Millwall appearance in 2009 but over seven seasons, could never solidify his place in the side and had many loan moves away.

In 2016, he made the move away from Millwall to Doncaster Rovers where he was playing regular League Two football and made over 100 appearances for the club.

After three seasons with Rovers, the striker went to Portsmouth but after making 19 appearances in his final season with the club moved to Lincoln City.

This season, he has made 36 league appearances and scored nine goals for the Imps.

Sheringham initially signed for Millwall as an apprentice but after scoring on his second appearance for the club and a loan move to Djurgarden, broke through to Millwall's first team.

Sheringham spent eight seasons with Millwall and made over 200 appearances before moving to Nottingham Forest.

After a short spell with Forest, he moved to Tottenham where he played regularly in the Premier League.

He carried on his Premier League career with Manchester United, Tottenham again, Portsmouth and West Ham United after a first season in the Championship.

He moved to Colchester in 2007 finishing his career in the Championship with them.

Since retiring, Sheringham has managed Stevenage and Indian side ATK but now does TV work with punditry and also appeared on The Masked Singer.
