Enjoying an excellent 2021/22 Championship campaign thus far, Luton Town will be eager to finish the season just as strongly.

It was defeat last time out for Nathan Jones' side, and they have perhaps the toughest fixture they could possibly ask for next up when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Kenilworth Road.

However, the Hatters have been exceeding expectations all season, making them dangerous opposition for any club in the division.

With five games still left to play, the Bedfordshire club hold fifth place and currently have a two-point advantage over Blackburn Rovers in seventh.

It is set to be a tense finale for Nathan Jones and Co. but this season will go down as a success regardless of what happens during the concluding month.

Whilst we wait and see what happens in what remains of this campaign, here, we take a look at eight of Luton's best-ever academy graduates...

Starting us off is veteran defender Curtis Davies, who made his competitive debut for the Hatters during the 2003/04 season.

Davies then heavily featured for the Bedfordshire club the following season, playing an integral role in Luton's promotion to the Championship, picking up several awards in the process.

Now with Derby County, Davies has been a dependable figure for Wayne Rooney across the course of the campaign, with the 37-year-old appearing 41 times for the Rams in the league.

Coming through the ranks at Luton, Matt Taylor is another who went on to enjoy a lot of success during his playing career.

Taylor made his Luton debut during the 1999/00 campaign as a 17-year-old, proceeding to feature regularly during that season and the following two.

The left-sided player went on to play Premier League football for the likes of Portsmouth, West Ham, Bolton Wanderers and Burnley.

Taylor was appointed Walsall manager in the summer, however, he was dismissed early into February.

Cauley Woodrow is another current Championship player who spent his youthful years within the Luton academy.

Born in Hemel Hempstead, and after spending some time within Tottenham Hotspur's ranks, the forward joined Luton's youth set up.

Showing mightily impressive signs with the club's U15 and then U16s, Woodrow made his senior debut just 12 days after his 16th birthday in a FA Trophy clash with Welling United, proceeding to feature two more times in that competition.

Born in Luton, and joining the academy very early on, Kevin Foley won the club's Young Player of the Season at just 17 years of age.

The full-back made his competitive debut for the Hatters near the end of the 2002/03 campaign, before becoming a regular during the following four seasons.

Foley then spent nearly eight years with Wolves, helping his side get into the Premier League during that time.

Spending two years as an assistant coach at Tampa Bay Rowdies across the pond, Foley is now back in the UK and ready for the next coaching challenge.

Born in nearby Stevenage, Leon Barnett joined the Luton academy in 2002, progressing at an alarming speed through their youth set up.

Initially joining as a right-sided player, Barnett was eventually deployed as a central defender, the position he went on to succeed in during the rest of his career.

Making his debut during that season, and a loan spell with Aylesbury United, the central defender started to see regular minutes with the Hatters during the 2005/06 Championship campaign.

Going on to play Premier League football with Norwich City and West Brom, Barnett is now the founder of his own academy.

James Justin is enjoying life in the Premier League at the moment with Leicester City, however, he progressed through the academy ranks at Luton.

The full-back joined the Hatters aged seven and was a part of some very successful youth teams at the Bedfordshire club.

He made his professional debut during the 2015/16 campaign, enjoying a couple of seasons of fairly irregular football, before emerging as a star in Luton's League One promotion-winning campaign (2018/19).

After a big injury has halted his progress with Leicester, he is now back to full fitness and will have one eye on making England's World Cup squad.

Tyreeq Bakinson is another who saw a lot of success when progressing through the Bedfordshire club's academy.

The young midfielder joined the Hatters at U10 level, impressing through the various levels of the youth set up, before making his first-team debut at the end of the 2015/16 campaign for Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu.

In the summer of 2017, Bakinson joined Bristol City on a three year contract for an undisclosed fee, enjoying loan spells with Newport County and Plymouth Argyle before seeing regular game time last time out.

He is currently on loan with Ipswich Town.

Born in Luton, Keith Keane joined the club's academy very early on, spending many years with the club's academy before making his first team debut in 2003 aged 16.

Playing fairly infrequently during the first three seasons of his professional playing career, Keane started to see his minutes increase during the 2006/07 Championship campaign, with Keane going on to become an integral part of the side during the club's next six seasons.

Proceeding to spend time with Preston North End, Stevenage and Cambridge United, Keane is now currently playing for local side The 61 FC (Luton).
