With Luton Town sitting in fourth, they are looking increasingly likely to secure a top-six spot in what remains of this Championship campaign.

The Hatters have enjoyed an excellent 2022 thus far to transform themselves from play-off hopefuls to actually operating inside the top-six positions.

Promotion to the Premier League would be an absolute dream for Luton fans, but what it will do is impact their recruitment somewhat, even if they do not intend to change too much for the rigours of England's top-flight.

Luton still need to secure their play-off spot during these concluding stages of the season, then will come the lottery of the play-offs.

The Hatters do not have the best record when it comes to recent play-off memory, however, they have defying expectations and unwanted records all season.

Here, we take a look at eight players who could be loaned, sold or released in the summer transfer window...

Dion Pereira is one who could be loaned out again ahead of the 2022/23 season, with the 23-year-old currently out on loan with Bradford City.

Certainly impressing as his loan stint nears its concluding stages, it would be no surprise to see the Hatters loaning him out to the top end of League One next season.

However, he could also be re-integrated into the first-team squad next season, especially if the Hatters remain in the Championship.

Josh Neufville is another player who is currently out on loan who could spend another term temporarily away from the club.

With an injury halting his progress at Kenilworth Road, the 21-year-old has shown great determination and patience during his rehabilitation.

Should a loan move be sanctioned in the summer, it will be interesting to see where it may be, with the Hatters perhaps hoping for a destination within the Football League.

Currently at Yeovil Town in the National League, Neufville has featured six times for the Glovers since his March move.

Elliot Thorpe's immediate future is a difficult one to assess.

He is someone who has already shown his class on the first-team stage, however, the competition levels in midfield at Luton, coupled with the fact that the Hatters are battling for promotion to the Premier League, means that opportunities within the senior set up have been limited.

If this season would have fizzled away into mediocrity, then he may have featured over the last couple of games.

Thorpe is certainly an exciting prospect but he may need a loan spell to bridge the gap from starring at youth level to breaking through at first team level.

It remains to be seen how long left Dan Potts has on his current contract at Kenilworth Road, however, he is someone  who could depart regardless.

The 28-year-old has certainly performed well when operating as a left-sided centre-back this season but he is far from first-choice at Kenilworth Road as things stand.

With Luton looking to continue their exponential rise, Potts is someone who might head on for pastures new, with his performances this season perhaps alerting several clubs of his potential availability.

Glen Rea is another who has played such a vital role in Luton's success in recent years, however, he is likely to depart when summer comes around.

The combative midfielder embarked on a loan spell with League One leaders Wigan Athletic in January, however an injury early into his temporary spell with the Latics cut his time short with the third-tier table-toppers.

Rea is someone who could quite easily remain in the Championship, especially for a club who will be looking to ensure survival first and foremost.

Harry Isted left Luton in the summer, however, two months after news had emerged that he had departed, he was offered fresh terms at Kenilworth Road.

Isted, who performed well for the Hatters when coming on as a first half substitute for James Shea against Cardiff on Monday afternoon, has shown his quality in glimpses.

However, it remains to be seen if Luton view him as an option going into the new campaign.

Should he depart, he should have no problem finding a destination within the Football League.

Not only is he an excellent shot-stopper, he is also comfortable with the ball at his feet and has an excellent range of passing.

Elijah Adebayo is someone that could depart in the summer, should a sizeable offer come in for the towering forward.

A recent FLW report stated that Burnley, Huddersfield Town and West Brom are all interested in making a summer move for the 24-year-old, whilst he impressed in a game against Fulham in December where Newcastle United scouts were present.

Possessing tremendous ability and sheer physicality, he is someone that is likely to continue attracting the attention of clubs going into the summer.

Second-tier sides West Brom, Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United have all been credited with an interest in Luton's Kal Naismith earlier in the campaign, as per a FLW exclusive.

Burnley and Norwich City of the Premier League are also linked, however, the pair are seemingly heading for the Championship.

Naismith has been excellent for the Hatters this season, providing defensive solidarity and attacking threat with his wand of a left foot.

Given his influence in a Luton shirt, he is someone that the Hatters will be particularly eager to keep hold of.
