Charlton Athletic ended this season on a fairly positive note, even if they did just miss out on the play-off places via goal difference.

It's Oxford United who will get a shot at a place in the Sky Bet Championship in the coming weeks ahead of the Addicks and Portsmouth, but there remains optimism at The Valley that next year could be a good one.

Nigel Adkins, since his arrival, has overseen a pretty decent run of form and heading into the summer he'll be eager to build on that and ensure his side is ready for a promotion push.

During his time at the club, and a few weeks before it, we saw Jayden Stockley come in and do a good job at Charlton so let's take a look at some of his numbers now:

The Addicks needed another centre-forward in the January window and one that could really lead the line and hold up play whilst shrugging off defenders - Stockley managed to provide that.

Indeed, it was in the air in the second half of the season where we really saw him come into his own, regularly winning aerial duels and regularly clattering headers into the back of the net, whilst also linking up fairly well with those around him like Ian Maatsen and Liam Millar.

Of course, there's a chance none of those three will be at the club next season but, of the three, you'd perhaps suggest Stockley is the most likely to be kept hold of, depending on how Preston view him.

In the second half of the year, Stockley showed he could be more than useful at League One level - it just remains to be seen whether Adkins agrees.
