8 goals, 2 assists: Southampton must launch a transfer bid for this top quality player

After a brilliant first-half of the season, things have gone very wrong for Bristol City in 2018, with the Robins now in a serious fight just to make the play-offs.

Lee Johnson’s side deservedly attracted credit from across the country for their performances against both Manchester clubs in the Carabao Cup and many felt they had a real chance of promotion.

Yet, two wins in 12 game is an alarming dip that has taken them down to seventh in the table.

Despite that, there’s no doubt that several clubs have taken notice at how Johnson’s men have performed this season and failure to win promotion could make it a tough summer for Bristol City to hang onto their stars.

One man who is sure to attract interest is influential defender Aden Flint, with Southampton one top-flight club that are in desperate need of a powerful centre-back.

After the departure of Virgil van Dijk the Saints look very light in that area and they will already be planning ahead.

But, as our graphic shows, Flint seems capable of handling the step up to the Premier League.

One impressive stat is the number of clearances he makes, which highlights how his positional sense is strong and that he can sense danger.

The 28-year old is certainly an old-school defender but that bravery and determination is what Southampton have lacked at times this season in the back four.

Furthermore, his aerial prowess is backed up by the goals he has scored, which is quite ridiculous for a defender. Flint has eight for the season and has hit 15 in a season before.

It may be a risk given his age, but you wouldn’t be surprised to see more top-flight interest in the former Alfreton man this summer.
