Fulham have it all to do to ensure they do not suffer a repeat of their 2018/19 and 2020/21 attempts to stay in the Premier League next season.

The work starts now after their promotion was confirmed on Tuesday evening and Marco Silva may have already identified some targets for the summer transfer window.

Even though Fulham have run away with the second tier this season, that does not mean that their squad is largely capable of staying up in the top-flight and they will need to recruit smartly if they are to have a successful 2022/23.

Marco Silva is no stranger to the division having managed Hull City, Watford and Everton there previously but will be hoping to improve on those promising spells with the Cottagers.

Here, with the summer window fast approaching, we have taken a look at eight Fulham players that could be sold, loaned or released in the summer...

Flying right wing back Marlon Fossey will likely depart Craven Cottage this summer.

The 23-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and, unless he signs another one, a permanent exit could be preferred, with the American's chances of displacing Kenny Tete, or even potentially Neco Williams, looking slim at this point.

Fossey's loan at Bolton Wanderers was prematurely ended this season due to injury and a Championship move could be the preferred option in the coming months.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has spent this season impressing on loan at Serie A high-flyers Napoli.

There is an option in the loan deal for Gli Azzurri to buy the Cameroon international permanently, and that appears likely to be exercised due to his consistent performance levels this term.

Anguissa was a key player in Fulham's unsuccessful 2020/21 campaign and the Cottagers will need to upgrade their midfield contingent to survive, particularly with Fabio Carvalho's contract situation and proposed exit.

Alfie Mawson's career has stagnated significantly at Fulham, and with his contract drawing to an end this summer, an exit is surely on the cards.

Mawson has experience in the top-flight, but will likely be looking at the bottom half of the Championship for a new club, if he opts to stay in England.

There are a handful of sides who have benefitted from points deductions this season, and some of them would certainly be interested in adding someone of Mawson's calibre to their ranks.

Tyrese Francois has only made two Championship appearances this term and could be looking elsewhere, hoping to potentially force his way into contention for international selection with Australia, should they qualify for the World Cup via the play-offs.

Francois' deal is up at Craven Cottage this summer, and, at 21, he definitely needs to find a destination where regular first team football will be more readily available.

The cultured midfielder has shown his potential in glimpses but is unlikely to force his way into Silva's thoughts next season.

Anthony Knockaert has had his ups and downs in the Premier League with Brighton and Hove Albion and Fulham respectively, but, now 30, he may not be able to make the step up as well as he did previously in his career.

The Frenchman has only made four second tier appearances this season, and he has instead simply embodied the mistakes in recruitment the club have made in recent years and the new direction they need to head in, to ensure they consolidate their top-flight status next term.

Tim Ream has been a great servant in recent years, but, at 34, is not cut out to play a key role in their survival bid next season.

Tosin Adarabioyo needs a more mobile and exciting partner, and Ream has struggled to establish himself at the top level in the past.

The American's contract is up at the end of the season, an extension may be agreed to keep his experience around the dressing room, but relying on him as much as they have this term could prove to be a mistake.

Michael Hector's Fulham career has not got out of the starting blocks since impressing in the second half of the 2019/20 campaign.

The Cottagers have an option to extend his contract by a further year this summer, but instead they could release him, having been barely involved in any of the last two seasons.

Hector showed a lot of promise under Scott Parker at the back end of 2019/20, but has been unable to kick on and establish himself since.

Third choice goalkeeper Fabri reaches the end of his contract this summer, and it is very unlikely that a new agreement will be come to.

He has made just two appearances for the club since signing in the summer of 2018 and, similar to Knockaert, embodies the club's previous failings in the top-flight.

Marek Rodak has performed well once again for the Cottagers in the second tier, but even he is not indispensable, suggesting that Fabri's Fulham career is very close to the end.
