AFC Bournemouth are bound for the Premier League once more after finishing runners-up to Fulham in the Championship this season.

Scott Parker’s side have, in fairness to them, been the second best side in the division this season, holding their nerve despite Nottingham Forest’s late surge for the top-two.

The next focus at Bournemouth is going to be recruitment, with a talented squad needing fresh investment to make it competitive again in the Premier League.

Money will be available to be spent on some additions, whilst Bournemouth might look to be savvy in other areas and pick up a couple of bargain deals that are there to be had.

With that latter point in mind, we’ve opted to piece together a list of free agents that would fit perfectly into Bournemouth’s squad ahead of their Premier League return:

We will start with a potential attacking option in Jed Wallace.

Wallace has been superb for Millwall over the years, scoring goals consistently and also offering a creative threat for whoever is leading the line.

At 28 and with his Millwall deal expiring, now might be the chance for the forward to step up into the Premier League.

After another 18-goal involvements in 2021/22, it would be foolish of Bournemouth to not take a look.

If someone like Wallace isn’t to everyone’s fancy on the South Coast, there might be some clamour to chase a deal for Lawrence.

The Derby County captain has had a solid season in the Championship, building his reputation in difficult circumstances at Pride Park.

Lawrence has 16-goal involvements this season for the Rams and, at 28, could be another looking at stepping into the Premier League.

He’d be a useful, affordable coup for Bournemouth.

Heading back into the Premier League, Bournemouth are going to have to build from defence forwards.

Right now, Lenihan is set to be out of contract with Blackburn Rovers this summer and could be someone looking to take a move to the bottom third of the Premier League.

Again, the 28-year-old has been really consistent this season in the Championship and would certainly offer a competitive option at the heart of Bournemouth’s defence.

It’s been confirmed that Lenihan’s Blackburn teammate, Joe Rothwell, will be on his way out of Ewood Park in the summer.

There will be a host of clubs chasing his signature, with Bournemouth known to be a club that’s been keeping tabs on the midfielder.

After 10 assists and a really good season at Ewood Park, Rothwell could prove to be another really good signing for Bournemouth stepping back up into the Premier League.

The West Ham right-back looks set to be out of contract in the summer and, therefore, on the move.

Fredericks is maybe collateral damage as West Ham look to evolve and establish themselves as a contender in the race for Europe year after year.

For Bournemouth, the 29-year-old could be a great signing to come in and provide some competition on the right side of defence.

Whilst he’s not fitting into the picture at West Ham now, it might not be the case at a club like Bournemouth.

This one might seem a touch strange given that Hourihane is on loan in the Championship with Sheffield United from Aston Villa; deemed not good enough for the division that Bournemouth are heading to.

However, it’s worth noting how Hourihane played his part in helping Villa establish themselves in the Premier League, making 27 appearances in 2019/20.

During that season, he scored three goals and registered five assists, proving his worth.

It might not be that he comes in and improves Bournemouth’s starting line-up, but padding out the squad and offering experience, the 31-year-old could be perfect.

Mark Travers is a young goalkeeper that’s done well with Bournemouth this season and he deserves his chance in the Premier League next season.

However, there could well be some experienced cover brought in to support the 22-year-old.

John Ruddy is coming to the end of his stay with Wolves in the summer and could be a decent option to bolster Parker’s goalkeeping ranks.

It’s hardly the most exciting or ambitious signing but it could prove to be useful.

On the flip side of that, it might be that Bournemouth target someone slightly younger than 35-year-old Ruddy.

Blackman, then, might be someone considered despite his lack of Premier League experience.

At 28, Blackman should be peaking in his career as a goalkeeper and ready to put the pressure on Travers for a place in the side.

That said, he’s with Huddersfield now, and with the Terriers in the play-offs, they might be able to offer the soon-to-be free agent a Premier League chance.
