Charlton Athletic beat Barnsley 2-0 at The Valley to make it three League One wins on the bounce for Dean Holden's side.

The visit of the Tykes, who were sixth ahead of kick-off, is arguably the toughest test of Holden's tenure to date. The visitors were in control for much of the game and Charlton rode their luck at times but held their resolve and made the most of their chances.

FLW were live at The Valley. Here are our player ratings...

Ashley Maynard-Brewer – 7.5

The homegrown goalkeeper made some important saves before Charlton's opener and was proactive to come off his line when needed.

Sean Clare – 7

Replaced Steven Sessegnon in the XI just before kick-off. A little hesitant in the early exchanges but made a vital defensive header just before the break. Nearly scored Charlton's third when he skimmed a long-range effort wide of the post.

Ryan Innis – 7.5

Looks a little vulnerable when he's pulled into space or strays too far forward but defended the box well and made some important blocks. Nearly found the net twice in the second as he served a reminder of the threat he offers up top as well.

Lucas Ness – 8

Has been a revelation in recent weeks and continued that form. Consistently picked up some really important positions to extinguish danger but misplaced too many passes early on. Shifted to left-back after Todd Kane went off injured and was solid.

Todd Kane – 7

Confirmed late in the week and straight into the starting XI. Right-back by trade but forced to shift over to the left by Sessegnon's late omission and did a good job but was forced off with an injury in the dying moments of the first half.

Jack Payne – 7.5

Had the bit between his teeth early on, getting involved with a few tussles with opposition players. Won the ball in midfield with tenacity before setting Tyreece Campbell through on goal for the opener. Tenacious up until he was replaced just before the hour mark.

George Dobson – 7

Wasn't at his brilliant best. Barnsley had control of the midfield for long periods but Dobson and co. did enough to break things up.

Scott Fraser – 6.5

Has been his best run of form in a Charlton shirt in recent weeks. A curling shot over the bar after 25 minutes was a sign of a player with confidence but struggled a little to impact the game and was loose in possession at times. Did make some important defensive interventions. Pushed further forward after Payne went off and was more involved.

Jes Rak-Sakyi – 7.5

Lots of speculation surrounding the Crystal Palace loanee's future but he remains at The Valley. Should have done better with his chance in the 11th minute but a real threat at times down Charlton's right. First to the rebound to bag the second goal.

Miles Leaburn – 7.5

Has established himself as Addicks' main man up top. By no means the finished product yet but held up the ball really well. Caused the defenders some real problems before he was replaced by Macauley Bonne after 58 minutes.

Tyreece Campbell – 8

Academy product making his seventh League One appearance and fourth start – first under Holden. He repaid the manager's faith with a well-taken first goal for the club. Some great wing play as well, including some probing balls into the box.

Subs:

Eoghan O'Connell – 7

Came on for the injured Todd Kane in first-half stoppage time. Quiet but that is by no means a bad thing for the central defender. Dealt with a late Barnsley attack well.

Macauley Bonne – 7.5

A bit of a frosty reception given his history but made a fast impact. His quick shot on the turn was tipped onto the post and Rak-Sakyi slotted home the rebound. Ran hard and chased balls forward. Really looked like he was desperate to make his mark and did. Had the fans singing his name by the end, which is big.

Aaron Henry – 6.5

A late addition to the squad and on in holding midfield after 58 minutes. Got stuck in and moved the ball quite well. Arrived just in time to make a key interception in his own box late on.

Corey Blackett-Taylor – 6.5

On for Campbell in the last 10 minutes. Stretched a tired Barnsley defence.

Unused subs: Nathan Harness, Jayden Stockley, Albie Morgan,
