There is still plenty to decide in the Championship this season but it would not be a surprise if plans were already being put in place for the upcoming transfer window.

Fulham will be doing the same, possibly planning for another campaign in the second-tier, currently sat in third place with nine matches left to play.

Here, we take a look at eight EFL wonderkids who should be on their radar...

Downes has long been one of the highest-rated midfield talents in the EFL and would prove a smart investment for Fulham.

The summer will see Harry Arter and Harrison Reed depart whilst Kevin McDonald seems to be coming towards the end of his time at the Cottage as well, so a move for the Ipswich man would make sense.

One thing that has been apparent this season has been Fulham's weakness at the back.

Michael Hector has helped address that but you feel that more needs to be done in the long-term, so bringing in the impressive Souttar from Stoke (currently on loan with Fleetwood) would make a lot of sense.

Another midfield option that Fulham could look at is Rotherham's Ben Wiles.

He may only be 20 but he has played a big part in the Millers' promotion push, netting three goals and assisting six more already from the middle of the park.

Back to Ipswich for another defensive option.

The 21-year-old has been an ever-present in Paul Lambert's defence so far this season and with his contract set to expire in the summer could be a very a smart move.

The Charlton man has burst onto the scene for the Addicks this season and Fulham are known admirers of the 20-year-old.

He has racked up 20 Championship appearances already in a number of positions. Morgan could be a player for numerous positions for years to come if Fulham can bring him in.

Certainly a more ambitious option but it would be wise for Fulham to at least look at the Middlesbrough wide man.

It has been a dreadful season for Woodgate's men, but the 20-year-old has been a rare bright spark. He will have a year left on his deal in the summer and if a new contract cannot be agreed, Parker and co. could be in a good position to swoop.

Fulham are not flushed for options in the full-back roles so looking at Barnsley right-back Williams would make sense.

At 20, he has been a regular in the Barnsley defence and although they sit bottom of the table, he has shown plenty of promise and could be a smart investment for Fulham.

The 20-year-old Gillingham man has been brilliant so far this season and is set to leave Priestfield this summer.

Premier League clubs are reportedly interested but the prospect of more game time at Fulham could give the Whites an edge, so he is someone they should certainly be looking at.
