Huddersfield Town saw Carlos Corberan depart the club on Thursday following what was an excellent season for the Terriers.

The Yorkshire club finished the Championship campaign in third place, and despite getting the better of Luton Town over two legs, they were beaten in the final against Nottingham Forest.

Danny Schofield has been tasked with the permanent job at the John Smith's Stadium this season, with the objective being to challenge at the top-end of the division once more.

Still possessing a squad full of quality, and time left in the summer transfer window, Schofield will be using this pre-season to assess his options ahead of their opening day clash, a home fixture against relegated club Burnley.

Whilst we wait for the summer to progress, and see how the new campaign begins, here, we take a look at eight current free agents who Huddersfield should look to sign during this window...

Robert Snodgrass' immediate future is yet to be decided, and despite his Leeds United connections, he could be an excellent addition at the John Smith's Stadium with the immediate future in mind.

Still possessing a wand of a left foot, the 34-year-old is also an excellent character around the changing room and could help the younger members of the squad thrive.

A player who desires another shot at the top-end of the Championship, Huddersfield could do a lot worse than the experienced midfielder.

With Pipa heading for pastures new, recruiting a right-wing-back who is more attack-minded than Ollie Turton would certainly help achieve defensive balance ahead of the new campaign.

Ryan Nyambe would be an excellent Pipa replacement, with the 24-year-old leaving Blackburn Rovers when his contract expired late last month.

A direct and threatening wing-back going forward, he also impresses defensively, especially when stood one on one.

Nyambe would be a top addition at most Championship clubs, with Huddersfield being one of the more favourable second tier destinations at present.

Lukas Rupp could be a top addition at Championship level this summer, following his release from Norwich City a little earlier into the transfer window.

The central midfielder featured 19 times for the Canaries in the Premier League last time out, although the majority of his minutes were from the bench.

An intelligent midfield operator, who can create openings with his excellent vision and subsequent technical ability, Rupp is someone who would bolster the competition levels in the Huddersfield midfield.

Adding a left-footed central defender could be relatively high up on the priority list at the John Smith's Stadium, following what was an exceptional loan spell from Levi Colwill last time out.

Yoann Barbet is someone that provides experienced yet talented option for that kind of role, following his QPR departure.

It remains to be seen what the immediate future holds for the impressive 29-year-old but he certainly possesses the ability to operate at the top-end of the division.

An excellent ball carrier, he is also a physical presence who rarely loses out in his defensive duels.

If looking to add a player with great levels of experience and brilliant ball retention abilities then former Swansea City midfielder Korey Smith could be considered as an option.

It would be difficult to determine if he would emerge as a regular starter at Huddersfield if he was to arrive, however, he would add value both on the pitch and off it.

An excellent passer of the ball, Smith readers the game incredibly well and has been part of a brilliant midfield department at Swansea for several years.

Sheyi Ojo struggled for consistency at Millwall last season during his loan spell with the Lions, however, he did show glimpses of excellence for the London club.

Now departing Liverpool permanently, Ojo could be a top signing for a Championship club this summer.

Proving he can thrive at second tier level with Cardiff City the season prior, the young winger possesses lots of exciting attacking attributes that could see him play a major role for a side chasing promotion.

Former West Ham United midfielder Ossama Ashley is now available on a free transfer and Huddersfield could be the ideal destination for the talented 22-year-old to kickstart his senior career.

A combative yet elegant midfield operator, a FLW exclusive from last month revealed that Burton Albion were chasing a move for Ashley.

Injuries have hindered his progress with West Ham but if he is able to stay fit, then he would be an excellent addition at Championship level and would bolster competition levels massively.

Cyrus Christie could be classed as a right-wing-back option that the Terriers could consider following the departure of Pipa.

The former Fulham defender enjoyed a productive loan spell with Swansea City last time out and would be an excellent pick-up at Championship level, if he is to remain in the second tier this summer.

A direct and attack-minded wing-back option, he also dominates his defensive battles, both on the ground and aerially.

Christie could be a top addition at the Yorkshire club this summer.
