Queens Park Rangers are heading into a very exciting summer transfer window, their first under the management of Michael Beale.

Rangers have shown their ambition to prise Beale away from his role as assistant manager to Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa, and they certainly feel like a club heading in the right direction, speaking long term.

The West Londoners fell away from the play-off places in dramatic fashion in the final few months of the season under Mark Warburton, but with greater strength in depth next term, Rangers should be able to deal with fixture congestion a lot better.

QPR could be a far more attractive destination for loan players with Beale at the helm, and the contacts he has built up as a high profile coach could help the club bridge the gap between themselves and those with deeper pockets.

Here, we have taken a look at eight Championship players QPR could realistically target this summer transfer window...

Kristian Pedersen could be an option at left back following his departure from Birmingham City.

The dependable left sided defender was offered a new contract at St Andrew's but has chosen to pursue other opportunities, and a move to the capital that involves a greater chance of promotion to the Premier League could be an attractive proposition.

Pedersen has shown that he can play as a centre back or even a wing back at Birmingham, and in that will offer Beale some added tactical flexibility.

Left back is the position of highest priority due to the lack of options available right now.

Lee Wallace left the club at the end of his deal this summer, leaving the spot vacant when Sam McCallum returned to his parent club.

The chances are that Beale is going to want a more attacking full back than Pedersen, and Cardiff City's Joel Bagan could be an exciting option.

The 20-year-old could be a little out of Rangers' price range but with just one year remaining on his contract in the Welsh capital, it could be worth testing the waters.

QPR are in a tricky position with centre backs.

Jimmy Dunne feels like the only one you can hang your hat on being there at the start of the season, with Jordy De Wijs potentially unsettled after falling out of favour last term, Conor Masterson being unproven at the level returning from a loan spell at Gillingham and Rob Dickie potentially set to receive further interest from Premier League clubs.

Joel Latibeaudiere could be an option after struggling for regular game time at Swansea City if sold a project in West London.

The 22-year-old has one year left on his deal in South Wales.

Romaine Sawyers has to be one of the most exciting free agents this summer having reached the expiration of his deal at West Bromwich Albion.

The 30-year-old has been one of the classiest midfielders in the second tier for some years now and could add some variety to Beale's midfield, he knows the area well having spent three seasons with Brentford between 2016 and 2019.

With Dom Ball leaving the club at the end of his contract, Sawyers would be a very exciting replacement with far greater ball playing ability.

Greg Docherty has been a very reliable performer for Hull City for the last two seasons since arriving from Rangers.

The 25-year-old adjusted to Championship football very well in 2021/22, and could be ready for a step up the table.

Docherty is combative, but has an above average passing range in the division to add to the midfield contingent already in place at Loftus Road.

With Sam Field's injury record it is important that some other ball winning midfielders are added to the group, and Docherty fits that bill.

Todd Cantwell only has one year remaining on his contract at Norwich City, and the 24-year-old needs a fresh start away from Carrow Road.

Bournemouth had an option to buy clause in the loan deal that took Cantwell to the South Coast in the second half of the season, however it seems unlikely that will be triggered and instead he could be made available for transfer.

When fully firing, the versatile attacking midfielder is too good for the second tier and he could thrive in tandem with Chris Willock and Ilias Chair in West London.

Lyle Taylor provides something of a wildcard option in the final third.

The Montserrat international has one year remaining on his deal at Nottingham Forest, but it does seem very unlikely that he will remain at the City Ground this summer.

The former AFC Wimbledon marksman impressed on loan at Birmingham City in the second half of the season, and his performances at St Andrew's may go some way to sparking Championship interest in his services this summer.

Taylor would replace some of the experience lost through the departures of Charlie Austin and Andre Gray.

More of a long-shot, but Callum Robinson could become available for transfer this summer if deemed surplus to requirements at The Hawthorns.

A loan could be more likely here, with the Republic of Ireland international probably on fairly high wages for the level with the Baggies, but the mobile forward could be perfect in a dynamic front three with Willock and Chair.

With the pull of QPR increased with Beale at the helm, Robinson could be the type of addition that takes Rangers to the next level.
