Four points from two games across the Easter weekend has offered fresh positivity for Bristol City but they're still on course for a disappointing bottom-half Championship finish.

There have been bright points but Robins fans will have been hoping to see more progress made in what is Nigel Pearson's first full season at the helm.

The experienced coach has made it no secret that he sees this as a long-term project and making the most of transfer windows will clearly be key to that.

That doesn't just mean new signings either and offloading players – on loan, via player sales, or at the end of their contracts – will be a vital part of building the South West club up.

They'll likely be made even more important given City don't have a huge amount of money to spend, if any at all.

Potential departures are our focus today as we highlight eight the Robins players that could be sold, loaned, or released in the summer transfer window...

Experienced centre-back Timm Klose has been ever-present in the City side since joining as a free agent in January – making 15 appearances in for the Bs3 outfit to date.

However, Klose only signed a short-term contract when he joined the Robins and that means should new terms not be agreed he could depart in the summer.

The defender's performances over the past few months would seem to warrant an extension but until that's confirmed, there's still a chance that he could depart.

19-year-old forward Tommy Conway has enjoyed an impressive year for City's U23s – helping them climb to the top of the Professional Development League South 2.

He's been on the fringes of the senior squad as well, making five appearances from the bench and providing an assist in the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth.

But with the likes of Antoine Semenyo, Chris Martin, and Andi Weimann ahead of him in the pecking order, the Robins may feel a loan move is the best thing for him.

This summer could spell the end of Callum O'Dowda's time at Ashton Gate.

The winger is out of contract in June and after another frustrating season, it would be no surprise to see him depart.

The 26-year-old has had his moments but they've been far too infrequent and he's failed to live to his potential with City.

A fresh start elsewhere could be best for him while it would help the Robins trim their wage budget.

One of a number of bright talents in Pearson's squad, Han-Noah Massengo's future is uncertain.

The French midfielder is out of contract next summer and despite being offered new terms, is yet to agree an extension.

City may not want to risk him running down his contract and leaving for free while there is reported interest from Lyon, Leicester City, and Southampton.

If Massengo doesn't sign a new deal in the summer then the club may cash in.

What a season it has been for 18-year-old Alex Scott, who has broken through into the senior side and established himself as one of the Championship's most exciting prospects.

Scott penned a new four-year deal with the Robins back in August, which leaves them in a strong negotiating position should there be summer enquiries.

Reports in February suggested that City were bracing themselves for big-money offers in the summer amid interest from the likes of West Ham United, Everton, Leicester, and Tottenham.

Were a big offer to come in for Scott, it may be hard for the Robins to resist.

Bristol-born academy product Ryley Towler looks like a player for the future and has been around the first team squad this season.

He's suffered from some injury issues and City may feel that his development is best served by an EFL loan next term.

Towler is highly rated at the South West club, as the long-term deal he signed in May 2021 proves, so if he leaves it is only likely to be on loan.

By teeing up Chris Martin against Sheffield United, Antoine Semenyo moved into double figures in terms of assists this season.

The 22-year-old has been outstanding since returning from injury in November – bagging six goals alongside his assists – and has built on what was an impressive breakthrough campaign in 2020/21.

But with his contract up next summer and reported interest from nine clubs, including Crystal and West Ham, keeping hold of him in the upcoming window could be tough.

Boyhood City fan Andy King has enjoyed first season at Ashton Gate having been recruited by his former Leicester boss last summer.

Injuries have kept him sidelined for long periods but there have been moments in which he's proven his quality.

King signed a one-year deal with the Robins but there is a club option for a further 12 months.

Should City opt against triggering that then the midfielder will become a free agent at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
