There's lots of players who grab the headlines in the Championship, whether it is the explosive pace of Ryan Sessegnon, the unstoppable goals of Matej Vydra of the super talents of Ruben Neves.

Even some of the so-called unsung heroes get plenty of exposure, Tom Cairney at Fulham is one of those players who does the dirty work but gets the plaudits too.

Meanwhile, in the west of the country, there's a rather outstanding midfielder firing his club into the top ten and yet not really getting the credit he deserves.

We're taking a break from the bright lights of the promotion campaign to shine our spotlight on Marlon Pack, asking if he is the most underrated midfielder in the second-tier.

27-year old Pack has been at Bristol City for five years now, having graduated from Cheltenham Town in League Two. He's turned in 40 Championship appearances as the Robins have pushed for a play-off place. Sadly, post-Christmas form has seen them slide out of the top six, but not before scaring Man City in the League Cup and winning friends on a national level.

He's been amongst the goals, grabbing three, the most recent of which opened his side's account as they drew 5-5 with Hull in one of those 'I was there' matches. He also scored against Pep Guardiola's side in the cup, proving his value in the centre of the park.

He's also created six goals, a good number for a central midfielder in a competitive league such as the Championship. To have a hand in nine goals through the season is impressive and one wonders why more plaudits haven't been heaped upon him. Incidentally, that is more assists than Norwich City's Josh Murphy, a player linked with a move to the top flight.

He throws the tackles around, making 1.6 per game, but it is his distribution that really catches the eye.

He makes 53.6 passes per game, not unusual in a side that plays the game the right way, Of those passes, 79.9% arrive at their intended destination. That is a good statistic for a player at this level and one that should be earning him more coverage in the media.

Doubtless Bristol City are delighted their player is slipping under the radar, but if he carries on them surely a bigger club is going to think about making an approach because on these numbers, he would be worth it.
