Charlton have had an excellent start to the season, and have surprised many with where they are currently sitting in the Championship table.

Lee Bowyer has done a brilliant job since taking over, and guided them to a play-off final victory over Sunderland last season, which meant they achieved a quite magnificent promotion.

The Addicks haven't had it all their own way so far in the current campaign, and that's due to some awful luck with injuries.

In recent games Sam Field and Jake Forster-Caskey picked up injuries, whilst Lyle Taylor has been out of the squad for quite sometime which was a massive blow to the Addicks as he hit the ground running in the division.

Jonny Williams has often suffered with injury problems throughout his career, and it has somewhat overshadowed what could have been a quite brilliant few years for the playmaker. He has undoubted quality, and was starting to show that once more in the Championship this season.

However, he picked up an injury against Derby, and Charlton confirmed that Williams had to have an operation on his knee which means that he'll be out of action for up to two months. A massive blow not just for the club, but for the player in terms of his physical and mental state.

The midfielder has been slowly getting back to his threatening self this season, and has already registered four assists in the current campaign despite playing just 773 minutes. He has the quality and the dribbling skills that can change a game, and Charlton don't have too many players who can do that.

Every single one of the passes that he has made backwards this season has been accurate, yes some say it's wrong to pass backwards but to get every pass accurate shows the quality that he possesses in the side.

It's not just his passing that catches the eye, his progressive runs have always made supporters get off of their feet, and he's been trying to exploit that part of his game this season making ten runs so far.

Bowyer will be desperate in hoping that Erhun Oztumer can step up and fill the boots of the void that Williams will be leaving Charlton. He needs to have a different outlet for creativity, especially when the Addicks go a goal down.

The Addicks have another tricky test on Saturday, and they'll be hoping a depleted squad can get a result at top of the table side, West Brom.
