Sheffield Wednesday’s form over the course of the 2017/18 campaign has been poor, with the Owls not mounting the play-off push that many were expecting this season.

Jos Luhukay arrived in early 2018 to replace Carlos Carvalhal at Hillsborough, and after guiding the Owls to safety, he now has a huge summer in his sights.

One thing Luhukay has improved at Hillsborough is Wednesday’s defensive record, but with that, the Owls have lost some of their creative spark, which the Dutchman will be keen to address in the summer.

Defensively, additions will need to be made in South Yorkshire, but in attack, the Owls need to add the right quality to complement what they’ve already got.

One player who could once again be available in the summer is Bersant Celina, Manchester City’s young midfielder, who is the latest feature of our FLW Spotlight:

Celina has spent the season on-loan across the Championship with Ipswich Town, with the 21-year-old featuring on 34 occasions at Portman Road.

The 21-year-old has bagged seven goals from midfield, leaving him with a shot conversion rate of 22%, whilst he has also made a classy contribution in possession.

Celina has made 45 key passes over the season and averaged 33.1 passes per game, which come at a success rate of 76.9%.

The Verdict

Fernando Forestieri has missed large parts of the season, which has hindered Wednesday’s attack this season, but they can’t be reliant on the Italian.

Luhukay could do far worse than adding Celina to his squad on-loan next season, after the 21-year-old’s impressive contribution at Portman Road this year.

Celina could bring an awful lot to the Owls’ squad and really thrive at Hillsborough.
