Swansea City moved up to eighth in the Championship after Tuesday evening’s victory over Blackburn Rovers.

Graham Potter’s men rallied from a goal down to see off Tony Mowbray’s side 3-1 at the Liberty Stadium to secure their first win in four attempts.

Charlie Mulgrew opened the scoring just before the half-hour as the visitors led at the break.

Second-half goals from Connor Roberts and Bersant Celina came after a David Raya own goal to secure the Swans a three-point haul for the fifth time this season.

The win moves the Swans within a point of last night's opponents and the top six.

It was an impressive home performance from the Welsh side, and one man who stood out was Roberts, who scored the goal to give the Jacks the lead in the fixture after 68 minutes.

The 23-year-old managed to play the full game, scoring his second league goal of the season in the victory with his only shot of the night.

Roberts had 66 touches of the ball from the right-back position, which equated to 5.3% of Swansea’s total possession for the evening.

He attempted 47 passes, completing 35 of them, one of which was a key pass, which works out to having a 75% pass success rate.

Swansea are known for their short, sharp passing to get the ball forward along the ground quickly, but they can switch up the play when necessary, and Roberts managed to find two accurate long balls during the win.

One offensive aerial attempt was made, but that was unsuccessful.

Primarily a defender, the aim is to stop opposing players from attacking, and Roberts made two successful tackles from the four he attempted - one interception was also pulled off.

It was a solid defensive performance that was rewarded with a goal in a win that lifts the Swans to the periphery of the play-off places after 14 matches.

Blackburn offered little going forward despite opening the scoring, but Roberts, along with his defensive cohorts, put in solid individual and collective displays in what was an excellent win over Mowbray’s men.
