Reading’s awful season continued after they lost 3-1 to Sheffield United last night to remain just four points ahead of the relegation zone.

Once again, defensive issues were the Royals undoing, with Sheffield United becoming the second team in four days to score three goals at the Madejski Stadium.

More worryingly, it means Jaap Stam’s men have only kept one Championship clean sheet since late November.

One man who has struggled is Tiago Ilori, with the former Liverpool man having another poor game against the Blades last night. That is reflected with our graphic that highlights his contributions.

As you can see, he didn’t even last the full 90 minutes with Stam taking off the defender to throw on forward Sam Smith to try and salvage something late on.

Whilst he completed four clearances and made four tackles, Reading will have wanted more from the centre-back who struggled to deal with the aggressive approach used by Chris Wilder’s side.

Unsurprisingly for a team managed by Stam, Ilori also had a decent amount of the ball but only managed a 75.5% pass success last night.

That only added to what was another disappointing defensive display on the whole from Reading and Ilori.

With leaders Wolves up next, Stam may have to shuffle his pack to try and secure a rare clean sheet.

Thoughts, Reading fans? What do you make of Ilori’s recent performances? Let us know in the comments below.
