It turned out to be a busy end to the January transfer window for Nottingham Forest, who bid farewell to a number of first-team players in the latter stages of the window.

The Reds brought in three players over the course of the month, with Adama Diakhaby, Nuno da Costa and Gaetan Bong all putting pen to paper on a move to the City Ground.

In order to bring in those players, Sabri Lamouchi simply had to trim his squad and make room on the wage bill.

As perhaps expected, the likes of Claudio Yacob, Costel Pantilimon, Liam Bridcutt all followed Chema and Jack Robinson out of the exit doors to make way for new faces.

Perhaps the most surprising piece of January transfer business that the Reds conducted, though, was allowing Albert Adomah to leave the club on deadline day.

The experienced winger - who signed for the Reds on a free transfer from Aston Villa in the summer - joined Cardiff City on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Here, we take a look at Adomah's season so far to see whether Forest made the right call in letting him leave, albeit on a temporary basis...

During the first six months of his spell at the City Ground, Adomah found regular game time hard to come by, the arrival of Adama Diakhaby from Huddersfield pushed him further down the pecking order.

This arrival, in turn, prompted Adomah to move out on loan, with Cardiff beating Huddersfield in the race to sign the winger on loan.

Adomah has made a total of 27 appearances for Forest this season, 24 of those coming in the Championship, and three more coming in cup competitions.

The 32-year-old has made only five starts in the Championship this season, and in total, he has played 999 minutes of football in a Garibaldi shirt.

In Forest's 4-3-3 system, Adomah battled it out with Sammy Ameobi for a place on left flank, with Joe Lolley cementing his place on the opposite side.

Adomah started the season off in fine form, coming off the bench to score an equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Charlton, before scoring in the Carabao Cup win over Derby after starting from the off.

A few days later, as he did against Charlton, Adomah came off the bench to grab another equaliser in another 1-1 draw -  this time at home against Preston North End.

Adomah's pace and trickery on the flanks makes him a really useful impact substitute, perhaps explaining his lack of starts in the Championship.

The Ghanaian has completed 66 successful dribbles this season, and despite only managing to accrue a cross accuracy rate of 37.2%,  he has registered two assists in all competitions and has a pass success rate of 73.5%.

His best game, undoubtedly, came against Derby in the Carabao Cup, where he scored and assisted in a big 3-0 win.

His goal came through a simple tap in at the back post, whilst his assist for Joe Lolley came on and after an outrageous piece of skill on the left, before teeing up a cross to the back post.

His impact off the bench has been invaluable at times, but when he has been given his chance to start in the Championship, he has struggled to make a similar difference.
