Greek Midfielder Andreas Bouchalakis is leaving Nottingham Forest, Aitor Karanka has confirmed.

"I think he is moving on somewhere else, yes,” said Karanka to the Nottingham Post.

He arrived in Nottingham from Greek giants Olympiacos before the beginning of last season, however Bouchalakis never really seemed to make his mark at the City Ground.

Struggling to get a good run of form in the team, hHe has opted to leave Nottingham in search of regular football.

Karanka has praised the £720k-rated player for his professional attitude and ambition following his decision to exit.

With the big spending at Nottingham Forest, it is likely Bouchalakis came to his decision with relative ease.

Forest have already shelled out a club record £13.2m for technically gifted Portuguese midfielder Joao Carvalho this summer.

The verdict

With the major investment into the squad at the City Ground, this exit does seem to make sense for both club and player.

Scoring twice on his Championship debut against Brentford, Bouchalakis showed he is a very competent midfielder.

However, struggling for first team football least season, it would have been even more of a struggle for the Greek this season with the volume and quality of signings Aitor Karanka has brought to the club this summer.
