Sheffield United could be set for a fantastic ending to their 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Heading into the final day of the season, the Blades currently occupy fifth place in the Sky Bet Championship league table, two points clear of Middlesbrough in seventh and three clear of Millwall in eighth.

Whether or not they will have the chance to compete for a place in the Premier League is all in their own hands then, but it is a tough trip away to Fulham that they must face in order to get their play-off bid over the line.

Regardless of the outcome, whether promoted or not, it is a big summer ahead for the Blades as they either look to strengthen their squad either to fight for Premier League survival, or to make it strong enough to gain promotion to the Premier League next season.

With that in mind, we’ve picked out seven transfer dealings that we think could happen at the club as soon as the end of June.

One transfer dealing that we can certainly see happening at the club by the end of next month is a contract extension for defender Chris Basham.

According to Transfermarkt, the central defenders contract expires at the end of June and you have to think the Blades would be interested in keeping Basham around.

Despite now being 33 years old, the centre back, who has been at the club since 2014, has made 27 Championship appearances this campaign and shown he can be a more than useful member of the Sheffield United squad.

Similar to Chris Basham, we can see Ben Osborn being offered a new deal to extend his stay at Bramall Lane.

According to Transfermarkt, Osborn’s contract is also up at the end of June, but once again, the club surely cannot allow him to leave for nothing.

The midfielder is versatile, in his prime at 27 years old and has also made 33 Championship appearances for the Blades in 2021/22.

If he were to be allowed to leave, Sheffield United would certainly have a gap to fill.

One player that we think Sheffield United could look to sell as soon as next month is forward Oli Burke.

Burke joined the Blades back in 2020 but things just don’t appear to have worked out for the 25-year-old in Yorkshire.

He is currently on loan at Millwall where he has appeared 16 times for the Lions and perhaps they could be a landing spot for him this summer.

With his contract due to expire in 2023, this could be the last chance Sheffield United could get to cash in on the attacker.

Another player seemingly heading for the Bramall Lane exit door next month is Frenchman Lys Mousset.

Mousset joined the club in 2019 and has made 53 appearances for the Blades, scoring nine goals and registering four assists.

After appearing just seven times in the Championship this season though, Mousset was loaned out to Serie A side Salernitana where has made six league appearances.

Given that his Sheffield United contract is up this summer, it would make sense for the club and player to part ways.

Another player that could be heading for the exit door at Bramall Lane is Luke Freeman, whose contract with Sheffield United is also due to expire at the end of June.

Freeman joined the Blades following their promotion to the Premier League in 2019, but has failed to make an impact at the club.

The 30-year-old has racked up just 34 Sheffield United appearances during his time with the club and he is currently on loan at fellow Championship side Millwall.

His exit this summer feels inevitable.

Someone whose exit from Bramall Lane may not be inevitable though is Jack Robinson, who could be offered a new deal at Sheffield United ahead of next month.

Robinson is another with an expiring contract with the Blades, but given the role he has played this season he would be a difficult one to let go for free.

A natural left back, Robinson has featured in the back three under Heckingbottom this season, featuring heavily particularly in the second half of the campaign, missing just three league matches since the turn of the year.

Heckingbottom will surely want to keep him.

Last but certainly not least, and a bit of a wildcard here, Conor Hourihane is a player that we could see link up with the Blades on a free transfer next month.

His contract at Aston Villa is due to expire this summer, and having spent the season on loan with the Blades, Paul Heckingbottom will be more than familiar with what the Irishman can offer.

Making 27 appearances this campaign, the 31 year old has shown he is capable at this level of football so this is certainly one to watch if the Blades don’t achieve their promotion goals.
