Stoke City still have to get themselves out of the woods in terms of relegation from the Championship, but there’s reason to be positive under Michael O’Neill.

Since arriving at the bet365 Stadium, things have picked up for the Potters and if O’Neill can keep the side in the Championship this season, a brighter time of things next year is a real possibility.

Things will need freshening up in terms of the playing squad, however, which could lead Stoke down a number of paths.

Here, we take a look at a handful of Premier League outcasts that could be the ideal additions to get the Potters challenging back in the upper echelons of the Championship…

Every successful side in the Championship requires a decent striker and Adams could be that man for the Potters.

After breezing past 20 goals last season for Birmingham City, Adams moved onto the Premier League, where he’s struggled.

A fresh start next season is needed and Adams could be great for Stoke.

Another player whose career needs something to change is Robbie Brady, who currently is on the books at Burnley.

He’s a quality operator on the left and at Championship level, could rip it up.

O’Neill trusted Peacock-Farrell with the gloves for Northern Ireland, with the Burnley stopper clearly a player he rates.

A loan spell might be needed for Peacock-Farrell next season and O’Neill could be open to reuniting.

What a signing this would be for Stoke.

Gibson has lost his way since joining Burnley, but there’s little denying the centre-back’s quality.

Under the right boss, he could thrive back in the Championship.

A cheaper centre-back option would be James Chester, who is currently on loan with the Potters.

His future at Aston Villa is cloudy and O’Neill might look to strike a permanent deal.

High-profile signings from the Premier League haven’t really worked for Stoke over the last couple of years, but Ibe could be very, very different.

The winger has class and with his Bournemouth career stalling, he could be on the move this summer.

If it is a creative spark O’Neill wants, he could do worse than bringing in the fit-again Izzy Brown.

He’s thriving at Luton Town on loan from Chelsea, with a move to Kenilworth Road really helping the playmaker put a few injuries behind him.
