This season could yet prove to be the one where Derby County achieve Premier League promotion at long last and Rams fans will hope that is the case.

Either way, in the summer they'll be hoping to keep building as Phillip Cocu continues to shape his side into how he wants it to look.

With that in mind, we've been taking a look at some Premier League players that could well be up for a move to the club, if the Rams wanted to add that kind of experience...

Ben Gibson is capable of being a Premier League defender but hasn't managed to force his way into the Burnley side and perhaps a move would benefit him.

If Derby go up he could add something to their defence and, if they stay down, he'd be one of their leading players.

Scott Hogan has had a fine spell at Birmingham and looks back to his best.

If the Blues can't manage to keep him at Villa, though, perhaps it's worth Derby having a look at him?

If he is back sharp and can be so for the Rams he'd be a top signing.

Troy Parrott is a young player Tottenham fans want to see more of but it could be time for a loan to a club that will get the best out of him.

Derby and Cocu are great at dealing with young players and so perhaps some kind of deal could be beneficial.

Joe Hart's career has stalled but he is still a good goalkeeper.

Could he force his way in at Derby? Wayne Rooney might be able to attract him to the club and then it's all about confidence.

Matty James needs to leave Leicester City this summer and get playing again.

He's got ability and would be a hit for the right club, perhaps he has something to offer Derby?

Timm Klose could be another defender worth looking at for the Rams.

He knows the Championship and the top flight well thanks to his time with Norwich and is well-versed in the promotion challenge game.

Robbie Brady is a good player but his time at Burnley is coming to an end.

He still has plenty to offer the right club and if Cocu wants a few more experienced heads to help his youngsters perhaps he's worth a look.
