Cardiff City will be hoping they can finish this year's campaign strongly in the Championship, as they look to keep their top-six dream alive.

Neil Harris' side are currently sat ninth in the second tier standings, and are just two points adrift of the play-off places with nine matches remaining this season.

It could be an interesting transfer window ahead for the Bluebirds, as they look to make the necessary additions to their squad ahead of potential promotion push.

We take a look at SEVEN Premier League outcasts that Cardiff City should target heading into the summer transfer window.

Find out who they are, on the next page....

The Aston Villa youngster made five league appearances for Dean Smith's side in their promotion-winning season into the Premier League.

But given the fact that they have added to their squad since returning to the top-flight, it's unsurprising to see that Davis has fallen down the pecking order at Villa Park.

He's out-of-contract at the end of the season, and will be keen to find a club that can guarantee him regular game time.

The Newcastle United midfielder is currently on loan with promotion-chasing Rotherham United in League One.

He has been a regular in Paul Warne's side this season as they edge closer to a swift return to the Championship, and his performances won't have gone unnoticed.

He's out-of-contract with Newcastle at the end of the 2020/21 season, and it'll be interesting to see where his long-term future lies.

It's already been confirmed that Ibe is leaving AFC Bournemouth in June, which means he's allowed to talk to other clubs.

The winger struggled for consistency in his performances with the Cherries, and will be eager to get his career back on track and in the right direction.

If he can get back to his best, then Cardiff could have an excellent player on their hands.

Niasse is out-of-contract at the end of this year's campaign, and it seems highly unlikely that he'll remain with Everton.

He's struggled for regular game time with Carlo Ancelotti's side this term, and you would imagine that he'll be planning his next move already.

If he can find his feet in the Championship, then he could be a smart signing by the Bluebirds.

The Newcastle shot-stopper has been their second-choice goalkeeper for the majority of this year's campaign.

But Darlow is out-of-contract at the end of this year's campaign, and it would come as a surprise to see him remain with Steve Bruce's side.

He has experience of playing in both the Premier League and the Championship, and would certainly be an upgrade on what Cardiff have available to them at this moment in time.

Green is another player that is out-of-contract heading into the summer, as he's currently contracted to Aston Villa.

But after playing his part in their promotion-winning season last term, he was loaned out to Preston North End, who struggled to give him the game time he needed to develop.

Green is currently with Charlton Athletic on loan, and he'll be hoping to have his long-term future resolved at the earliest of opportunities.

Gayle's record in the Championship speaks for itself, and it wouldn't come as a surprise to see him attracting interest heading into the summer transfer window.

The forward netted 24 goals in his last spell in the second tier, which was a loan spell at promotion-chasing West Brom.

But he's struggled for consistent minutes with Newcastle United, and is definitely a player that Cardiff should be monitoring.
