This season could yet prove to be the one where Brentford achieve Premier League promotion at long last and Bees fans will hope that is the case.

Either way, in the summer they'll be hoping to keep building as they move to their new stadium and transfers will be important in that regard.

With that in mind, we've been taking a look at some Premier League players that could well be up for a move to the club, if the Bees wanted to add that kind of experience...

Nampalys Mendy was signed by Leicester as an energetic midfield presence to help after N'golo Kante left the club.

He's been hampered by injuries but there is still a good midfield player there whose intensity would fit in at Brentford.

Che Adams' big move to the Premier League hasn't worked how he would have liked and it remains to be seen where he ends up.

Southampton might not be open to a permanent exit but a loan deal could be something they consider and Brentford might need to add to their attacking arsenal with rumours concerning their key stars.

Troy Parrott is a young player Tottenham fans want to see more of but it could be time for a loan to a club that will get the best out of him.

Brentford are great at dealing with young players and so perhaps some kind of deal could be beneficial.

Jordon Ibe is a player with talent but things have stalled for him at Bournemouth and maybe a fresh move is needed.

If Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins leave they'll need a wide-man and, though he's perhaps not at their level, with a bit of confidence he could still be a shrewd signing.

Matty James needs to leave Leicester City this summer and get playing again.

He's got ability and would be a hit for the right club, perhaps he has something to offer Brentford?

Ben Gibson is capable of being a Premier League defender but hasn't managed to force his way into the Burnley side and perhaps a move would benefit him.

If Brentford go up he could add something to their defence alongside the likes of Pontus Jansson.

Angus Gunn isn't getting into the Southampton team as much as he'd want so maybe a move would be something he's interested in.

He'd have to challenge to start at Brentford, too, but at least he has top-flight experience if the Bees do go up.
