Birmingham City haven’t kicked a ball in the Championship since the first weekend in March and despite restart plans put into place, focus at St Andrew’s will naturally be drifting towards next season.

Pep Clotet will be looking to hit the refresh button with Blues and hope that he can get them in and around the play-off picture in the 2020/21 campaign.

Of course, doing that will be tough and it will take a shrewd summer of dealing to make that happen.

With that in mind, we’ve identified SEVEN Premier League outcasts that Birmingham could focus on bringing in ahead of next season…

Hart had a spell with Birmingham earlier in his career and has since become a Premier League Champion and England international.

Now, he’s on the outskirts of the Burnley squad and looking like he will be on the search for a fresh start in 2020/21.

The playmaker is currently on loan with Luton Town in the Championship and despite the Hatters’ struggles, he’s impressed and put a tough spell with Leeds behind him.

He’s not going to get a crack at parent-club Chelsea, so Birmingham have a chance to sealing some form of deal for the playmaker.

Clotet could build his attack around Brown.

Blues know all about Hogan, who has been a revelation since arriving at the club from Aston Villa.

The loanee has little future at Villa Park it seems and after seven goals in eight appearances for Birmingham, securing his service for next season will be a priority.

Ibe would be a high-profile name for Birmingham to target, but he’s not making the grade at AFC Bournemouth any longer.

He’s had a spell with Birmingham earlier in his career and Clotet could offer the 24-year-old a chance to rediscover himself.

If Hart proves to be an expensive goalkeeping option to chase, Blues could well look to former Leeds stopper, Peacock-Farrell.

He’s also on the books at Burnley, but with Nick Pope established a No.1 at Turf Moor his chances have been limited.

A year in Birmingham could be good for the goalkeeper.

Ambitious, we know.

Adams was on fire at Birmingham in 2018/19 and earned himself a move to Southampton in the Premier League.

However, he’s not made the grade in the top-flight and could well be looking for another move in the summer.

Birmingham could do worse than trying to tempt him back.

Tapping into Aston Villa’s fringe players has been successful in terms of Hogan, which might tempt Blues to take a look at Chester.

The centre-back has immense experience and is surplus to requirements at Villa Park.

He’s on loan with Stoke City currently, but a move a little bit closer to home could appeal to him in the summer.
