Coventry City have endured a mixed start to their first season back in the Championship under Mark Robins, with the Sky Blues currently sitting in the lower reaches of the league standings.

Not helped by various injuries to key players such as Matt Godden and Michael Rose, the Midlands based club may well be looking to reinforce their squad come January as they seek to solidify their status as a second tier club, with the threat of relegation sure to be on the agenda for a little while yet.

Here, we have devised a list of SEVEN players who should be on Coventry City's transfer radar as the January window approaches...

Pigott is once again showing why he is one of the most feared striker's in the lower reaches of the EFL pyramid, with the former Charlton man having already hit double figures for Wimbledon this term. Given he has performed so well in League One, it is perhaps now time for the player to try his hand at a higher level, with the striker representing a cheaper option in comparison to alternative targets due to his club's small financial stature.

Capable of playing in numerous positions along the backline, Oshilaja would help to solve the lack of defensive options that the Sky Blues have at present, with the Charlton centre back currently finding it tough to nail down a regular first team spot under Lee Bowyer. Given that he played in the division last season, there is no reason why the defender wouldn't jump at another chance to ply his trade in the Championship once more.

Williams has been in outstanding form for Exeter City ever since he made the move to the Grecians back in 2019 and racked up an impressive 14 assists last season. Capable of playing as both a winger and as a full back, he would offer an increased level of offensive threat for the Sky Blues from wide positions.

Poku is another player that is making a name for himself at a lower level, with the winger having performed superbly for Colchester United last term as they just fell short in the race for promotion. Given his versatility and pace, he would provide a good alternative to Jodi Jones, with the latter continuing to fight off his injury problems.

Twine has made great progress whilst on loan at Newport County from Swindon Town this term and is fast becoming one of the standout players in League Two to date. With the Robins seemingly set to make a decision over the player's future in January, Coventry could well look to make a bid for the 21-year-old whose stock has risen significantly after racking up five goals and five assists in the league for the Exiles.

The Crewe Alexandra skipper would provide Coventry with a solid option down the right hand side, with his crossing and defensive abilities making him one of the best players in his position in League One. Still aged 24, Ng could well be the latest academy graduate to leave the club as he continues to improve year on year.

A versatile and clinical attacker, Jay is another star of Exeter City's current squad and could well be open to trying his hand at a higher level with the Sky Blues after spending seven years with his boyhood club. Still only 24, the forward has lit up the division with nine goals for the Grecians and will no doubt attract interest if his form continues.
