Ben White has been a revelation this season at Leeds United, with the Brighton loanee helping Marcelo Bielsa’s side to the top of the Championship table and on the brink of a Premier League return.

Leeds have nurtured the talent of White over the course of the 2019/20 season, with the 22-year-old playing in every Championship fixture and impressing at either centre-back or in holding midfield.

And, given White’s impressive form at Elland Road, it has been suggested that Leeds will struggle to lure him back to West Yorkshire for the long-term, with Liverpool and Manchester City amongst the high-profile Premier League clubs interested – as per The Athletic.

Additionally, there will be an eagerness from Brighton to retain the service of the 22-year-old.

So, if Leeds do fail to bring White back to Elland Road, who might they target to replace him?

We take a look at a host of options…

Godfrey is currently with Norwich City, who look destined to drop straight back out of the Premier League.

Should Leeds replace the Canaries in the top-flight, Godfrey might be available, and on the back of 21 Premier League appearances this season, he could be a good option to replace White in Leeds’ defence.

Clarke is currently on loan with Derby County in the Championship and, like White, is part of the Brighton wider set-up.

Whether he has a future at the Amex is less certain than someone like White, so should the Leeds loanee end up back at his parent-club, it opens to door potentially for the Whites to swoop for Clarke.

This would cost, but Mings is an exceptional centre-back who would be ideal for the Whites.

He might be part of a struggling Aston Villa squad, but Mings has been exceptional this season and looks good enough for an extended stay on the international scene.

If Villa drop, he could be a great signing.

The young Tottenham defender doesn’t get much of a chance in North London – he’s managed only 67 minutes in the Premier League this season and a further 197 in the Champions League.

Leeds could offer him a regular chance of first-team football, particularly if White has moved elsewhere.

Alternatively, if Leeds want a more like-for-like replacement for White, they might opt for Ayala’s Boro teammate, Fry.

Fry is comfortable on the ball and is an outstanding young centre-back.

He’s toughed it out in the Championship over a few years and could be ready to fill White’s big boots.

Whether Worrall is available might rest on Nottingham Forest winning promotion this season, with the Reds sat in the Championship play-off places as things stand.

If they are facing another year in the Championship and Leeds are preparing for Premier League football, Worrall might emerge on the radar as a potential White replacement.

Davies has been so impressive for Preston this season, helping Alex Neil's side into promotion contention.

If they miss out on Premier League football, though, they are surely at risk of losing the centre-back.

Leeds could take a look if that's the case.
