He's scored against them for Bolton, he's done the same for Reading, is it time Millwall took the hint and turned to prolific striker Adam Le Fondre to fire them up the Championship table even further?

31-year old Le Fondre has a history of scoring goals, be it at Rotherham, Rochdale or any of the clubs mentioned in the opening paragraph. He is one of those rare commodities, a truly natural finisher with an instinct for finding the back of the net.

Millwall need a striker, Lee Gregory and George Saville were the only players in their squad to reach double figures in the league last season, and even then they only hit 10 each. Imagine what Neil Harris' side might have achieved with a 15 goal striker in there, or even a 20 a season man.

FLW shines a spotlight on Adam Le Fondre, asking if he's the man to fire Millwall to the Premier League.

Despite assuring goals, Le Fondre's stats last season are less than impressive. He made 35 appearances for Bolton, but only scored seven goals, chipping in with two assists. Is that the rate of a man struggling in an uncreative side, or the signs of him now being past his best?

When you consider he only started 15 of those games and, after the departure of Gary Madine, he finished as the club's leading scorer, there might be a hint that it was circumstance and not ability that caused the dip in goals.

Despite coming off the bench 20 times, he still managed 1.4 shots per game. That paints the picture of a striker marginalised at times, but always wanting to bag a goal.

He won 1.9 aerial duels per match too, adding a 70.1% pass success rate to his stats. Overall, the figures are not overwhelming, but there's enough evidence there to show he's still Championship quality. Last season he suffered in a struggling side, but what could he achieve somewhere like Millwall, where chances in the first team might be as plentiful as chances in front of goal?
