Nottingham Forest remain unbeaten in the Sky Bet Championship, despite Aitor Karanka’s side not finding their best yet this season.

Saturday saw Forest stretch their unbeaten start to four games, but the Reds were far from convincing as they drew 2-2 with Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

Amongst Forest’s goalscorers was Matty Cash, who features as the latest player in our FLW Spotlight:

The winger featured for 90 minutes in Wigan, with his goal pulling Forest level after they fell behind to Nick Powell’s header.

Over the course of the 90 minutes, Cash, 21, made two key passes, as well as completing two successful dribbles.

Added to that, the dangerous winger also won seven fouls, including the penalty that eventually led to Hillal Soudani’s late goal.

Out of possession, there was also three interceptions from the busy winger.

The Verdict

It’s been a summer of significant recruitment for Forest, but it was Cash that really stood out on Saturday.

The winger, who at 21 has a lot to learn, was a constant threat down the right, with his goal taken extremely well.

His involvement in the penalty incident was also superb, with his direct running causing problems throughout the afternoon.

You could’ve been forgiven for thinking that Cash might struggle for games this season, but performances like Saturday will put him right at the front of Karanka’s plans going forward.

If his teammates follow his lead, Forest will see some draws turned into victories in the coming weeks.
