Barnsley have had a poor season this year and as a result their relegation to League One has been confirmed.

The Tykes sit bottom of the league going into their final game of the season this weekend which is away at West Brom.

Although things picked up slightly under the management of Poya Asbaghi, the changes were not radical enough and he has now been dismissed from his job too.

At this point, Barnsley are likely looking forward to the season being over so they can draw a line under it and start making preparations for next season.

The Tykes will no doubt be looking to come straight back up to the Championship next season and therefore it is important they make the right additions to their team to make this possible.

With that in mind, here we take a look at seven transfer dealings we could see happen as soon as next month at Barnsley.

The 23-year-old centre back sees his contract at Barnsley expire this summer and it's very likely we could see him depart.

Halme has made just five appearances this season after being hindered by injury and struggling to find himself a place in the side since getting back to fitness.

The young player has struggled with injuries on and off since being at Barnsley and they will likely look to have someone more readily available in the centre-back role or as back up now.

Josh Benson joined Barnsley at the start of the season but this season has failed to make the impact he was hoping.

The midfielder has made 24 appearances and assisted once but he has not been able to make himself a standout performer with Barnsley.

Although it could be argued he may do a better job in the league below, with a new manager coming in to Barnsley they could see it as more appropriate to cut this one off and let both parties move on.

Callum Styles has gained interest from Championship sides Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest as well as New York Red Bulls in the MLS.

The clubs made bids for the player but Styles chose to stay loyal with Barnsley and see out the season with his side as they battled to stay up.

However, now their relegation is confirmed, if the interest comes in for Styles, he may find it hard to turn down as it could hinder his career and ultimately he wants to play at the highest level he can.

Therefore, Barnsley may need to prepare themselves to let the 22-year-old go.

Morris is another player who has gained interest from other Championship sides this season.

Despite missing out of some of the season through injury, he has been able to score seven goals and contribute three assists from 28 appearances.

The 26-year-old has been a solid part of the side but with his contract up next season, Barnsley may see it as the best month to accept a bid that comes in for him this summer to allow them to reinvest money from a deal.

Club captain Cauley Woodrow has received interest from other clubs in the past and despite having a poorer season this year scoring just four times in 27 appearances, they could still be interest for the player this summer.

Whilst there is no doubt he will be able to have an impact on the team's success in League One, Woodrow is another player who has a year left on his deal meaning any offer that did come in for him may have to be considered.

Teams such as Ipswich Town and Oxford United who just missed out on promotion from League One this season may be looking for someone with the experience that Woodrow has.

Brittain received interest from sides such as Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City and Swansea City in January and despite no deal being made, that doesn't mean the saga will be over.

Brittain has been a core part of the side this year making 36 appearances for the Tykes but if some good offers came in for the player which could be increasingly likely with multiple clubs after him, Barnsley will need to consider that they may be able to put this money towards funding multiple new players at the club.

As always with relegation, Barnsley will not be able to keep hold of all their best players and will need to consider the fees to judge which ones are worth selling for the reinvestment in the squad.

Helik could be another player who may receive interest from clubs in the Championship especially those at the bottom who are looking to improve themselves next season.

The defender has made 38 appearances for his side this seasons and has been able to contribute a goal and an assist too.

Despite his side getting relegated, Helik has been one of the better performers in the side this season meaning he might feel as though he deserves another chance in the Championship next season.
