Robbie Brady's 2021/22 campaign certainly did not go to plan.

Dropping down to the Championship and joining AFC Bournemouth back in October, the Republic of Ireland international would go on to make just seven appearances for the Cherries in all competitions, mainly due to injuries.

Despite this, it has been suggested that Bournemouth boss Scott Parker is keen to keep hold of Brady for their Premier League return, with the club retaining the option to trigger a 12-month extension to Brady's current deal, due to expire at the end of this month.

As yet, we have no confirmation of that extension being triggered.

With that said, the Irishman has been linked with a move to other clubs in recent times.

Last week, for example, Sunderland, Huddersfield and Middlesbrough were credited with an interest in the left midfielder.

With that in mind, we took a look at Brady's numbers from last campaign, via WyScout, to try and grasp the sort of player those clubs could be getting next campaign.

The stats

Now, obviously Brady only played seven games last campaign, so these numbers come from an extremely small sample size.

One thing that immediately stands out, though, is the lack of goal threat Brady carries, and just how much of a defensive minded wide midfielder he is.

For example, his xG at Bournemouth last campaign was a very low 0.01 per 90.

WhoScored rate Brady's defensive contribution as one of his main strengths and the numbers back this up.

He gets involved in plenty of duels (21.09 per 90), makes 3.16 interceptions per 90, and also makes 7.38 recoveries per 90, of which 47.6% come high up the pitch in the opponents half.

With the above in mind, you feel Brady could fit in well as a left-wing-back under Chris Wilder at Boro or Corberan at Huddersfield.

On WhoScored, they do list Brady's passing as a slight weakness, though, and the numbers seem to back this up.

For example, the wide-midfielder's pass accurary was just 69.4% at Bournemouth last campaign on 50.63 passes per 90.

Interestingly, his long passes were more accurate at 56.3%, but this is still an area of the game Brady seemingly struggles.

Producing the above numbers, Brady earned himself a WhoScored rating of 6.42 for the 2021/22 campaign.

No doubt the Irish international will be looking to have a much better and healthier 2022/23.
