Huddersfield Town are hoping to add some experience to their defence with the addition of Richard Stearman.

According to Football Insider,  the Sheffield United defender is thought to be near the top of Danny Cowley's list of potential targets to solidify their backline.

The 32-year-old joined the Blades from Fulham in the summer of 2017, and helped the club win promotion back to the Premier League last season.

Since then however, Stearman has struggled for game time, having not made a single league appearance in the current campaign, meaning Blades manager Chris Wilder is now apparently open to selling the defender this month, before he is able to leave the club for free when his contract at Bramall Lane expires at the end of this season.

But what would the defender bring to the Terriers? We take a look at his performances from last term to assess how he'd improve Danny Cowley's side.

Richard Stearman may have only been a bit-part player for Sheffield United last term, but his impact can't be underestimated.

The 32-year-old made 17 apparances for the Blades and racked up some impressive number to show that he played his role in the club's promotion-winning campaign.

Stearman averaged 7.1 aerial duels won and 4.4 interceptions per 90 minutes, showing just how dominant he was.

As well as that, the Blades man won 61.8% of the duels he contested and completed an impressive 87.3% of his passes - showing that he isn't just a no-nonsense defender.
