Aston Villa target Dan Burn has refused to rule out a move away from the DW Stadium this summer.

26-year old Burn had a scintillating season for Wigan as they won the League One title, but he refused to rule out leaving the Latics, although he has confirmed he's enjoying life at Wigan.

“As far as I’m concerned, I’m a Wigan player, I’m enjoying it here,” he told the Express and Star. “But at the same time in football you can never say never. I could stand here and tell you I’m going to be here for ever, and the next day you’re being sold.”

The 6ft 7in defender started his career with Darlington, before quickly securing a move to Fulham, Loan spells at Yeovil and Birmingham City followed, before a switch to Championship side Wigan in 2016.

He has made 95 appearances for them over his two-year stay, winning Player of the Year in 2017 for his efforts in trying to avoid the drop, albeit unsuccessfully.

Villa have been linked with a move for Burn this summer, but much depends on their ongoing financial situation as to who their targets may be.

The Verdict

Burn would be a good signing for Villa, but would he be cheap enough given the current climate at Villa Park?

At 6ft 7in he certainly has the height advantage over his peers and can be effective at both ends of the field. That dual threat would serve any Championship side well, which is why Wigan won't let him go on the cheap.
