Millwall's performance last season was amongst the most admirable in the entire Football League.

Having just been promoted from League One via the play-offs, Neil Harris led the Lions to within a whisker of the top-six in the Championship, falling short by just three points.

That campaign would have been a massive confidence boost to a club who probably would have taken survival had you offered them it back in August 2017.

Harris managed to put together a team that was way stronger than the sum of its parts.

Setting them up so they were extremely hard to beat, he had all of his players working their socks off in every single game and it paid off.

But now they will have their sights set on bettering last season's result and breaking into the playoffs and even winning promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club's history.

They do need to strengthen, however. One position especially is upfront.

Last season Millwall were heavily reliant on the goals of Lee Gregory who had an outstanding season, scoring ten in the league.

But he needs help.

The solution

The man who could provide this is Gillingham's Tom Eaves.

The 26-year-old would be a perfect fit at The Den.

At 6ft 5in, he is a great physical threat who could form a potent partnership with Gregory and be a real hit with the Millwall fans.

He scored 17 goals in a struggling Gills team in League One last season so clearly has no trouble finding the net whatsoever.

This ability to find the back of the net would be absolutely crucial in pushing Millwall into the promotion picture.

With Eaves also entering the last year of his contract Harris may be able to prise him away from Priestfield for a decent price, so the Gills can avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
