Former Boca Juniors man Vicente Pernia has urged the Argentinian side to appoint Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa as the club's new manager, after speaking to El Intransigente via reports from the Daily Star.

The Argentinian side, who have won the Premira Division 33 times, are enduring a turbulent season this term, and currently sit 10 points off the top of the league table.

And Pernia, after speaking to the media in Argentina, has insisted that the club hire Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa as the club's new manager, with current head coach Gustavo Alfaro coming under major scrutiny.

He said: "Boca need a manager that when he speaks the rest do not say anything, that if he comes to train from tomorrow at six in the morning, nobody says anything, and the one who says something, can not play at Boca."

"That's the personality of the coach that is needed - that coach today is Bielsa, where no one of the squad is going to say anything because he knows he does not play."

Bielsa is no stranger to the Argentinean leagues, having managed the likes of Newell's Old Boys, Velez Sarsfield, as well as the country's national side in his long, established career.

There are major doubts hanging over the future of Bielsa at Elland Road however - the 63-year old has been a revelation at the Yorkshire club this season, and has guided the Whites to within touching distance of the automatic promotion places.

It is believed that Bielsa may look to leave Leeds at the end of the season, should the Whites fail to win promotion to the top flight this term, which has sparked fear amongst the Leeds faithful.

The Whites currently sit 3rd in the Sky Bet Championship table, ahead of a massive game against West Brom on Friday night.

The Verdict

This could be a really big blow for Leeds, as it's news that they could really do without.

Of course, there has been no official approach from Boca Juniors as of yet, but this report shows that plenty of people in Argentina rate Bielsa as highly as he is rated over in England.

It's going to be a nervy couple of months at Elland Road to say the least, with every single Leeds fan praying that Bielsa stays for one more year...
