Even though their game was called off last weekend, it was a great weekend for Cardiff City with promotion rivals Aston Villa and Fulham both dropping points.

It means the Welsh side boast a seven point lead over the pair, whilst also having a game in hand as we approach the final six weeks of the season.

Even though there is time for many twists and turns, everyone connected with Cardiff will be dreaming of the Premier League, whilst those in charge of recruitment will already be lining up players for the top-flight.

Here at FLW we reckon they should consider a move for West Brom's James McClean.

Firstly, with Albion all but relegated, they will be desperate to have a clearout, and the Ireland winger will be available at a decent price.

More importantly though, he is exactly the sort of player that manager Neil Warnock would want.

The 28-year old is very aggressive, direct and still has the pace to beat the opposition, and he's shown for his country over the years that he can score important goals.

As well as that, he is a team player. Cardiff won't be splashing the cash if they are promoted and will rely on hardword, determination and a real togetherness to be successful - much like this season.

McClean has all those qualities and would fit into the group with ease. Plus, Warnock has shown in the past he can get the best out of controversial characters.

He may not have had a great season for the Baggies but a move to Cardiff could be the perfect fit.
