Despite the fact that Millwall are still very much in contention for a play-off place in the Championship, they have already been linked with a striker ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Lions are currently keeping tabs on Shrewsbury Town forward Daniel Udoh.

It is understood that Millwall sent a scout to watch Udoh participate in the Shrews' recent clash with Ipswich Town in League One.

Considering that the 25-year-old's current deal at the Montgomery Waters Meadow is set to run until 2023, the Lions may need to submit a sizeable bid for him as Shrewsbury also have the option to extend his stay for a further 12 months.

Here, using statistics gathered from SofaScore, we have decided to take a look at how Udoh has been getting on in League One this season and assess whether Millwall should make a move for him later this year...

An ever-present in Shrewsbury's side during the current campaign, Udoh has made 44 appearances for the club in the third-tier.

Certainly not afraid to test opposition goalkeepers, the forward has averaged 1.9 shots per game at this level and has managed to find the back of the net on 13 occasions.

This is a respectable total in terms of goals for Udoh as his side have only been able to accumulate 50 points in League One this season.

Depending on what division Millwall find themselves in next season, Udoh could potentially be an asset for the club.

Whereas it is fair to say that the forward may struggle to cope with the competitiveness of the top-flight, he could potentially end up thriving in the Championship under the guidance of Gary Rowett if he adapts to Millwall's style of play.

One of the areas that Udoh will need to improve on if he makes the move to The Den is his ability whilst in possession of the ball as he has only registered a pass accuracy of 66% in League One.

Although it is important to note that the former Crewe Alexandra man has still managed to provide four assists for his Shrewsbury team-mates despite this aforementioned figure, he will have to make strides when it comes to this particular facet of his game.

Another area of concern for Millwall will be Udoh's ability in the air as he has only won 38% of his duels with opposition players.

With the Lions set to wave goodbye to Benik Afobe when his loan deal expires next month, the Lions will definitely need to strengthen in this particular area in the upcoming window.

However, Millwall should only be looking into the possibility of sanctioning a move for Udoh if they are facing another year in the Championship as he may not be ready to play at the highest level at this stage of his career.
