Stoke City got a harsh welcome to the Championship with a resounding defeat at Elland Road, and perhaps now understand exactly what is required from you in the second tier.

Not that the management was every unawares, Gary Rowett was at Derby last season and knows exactly what it takes to earn a play-off spot, having almost thrown it away at one stage of the season.

Now, after one game, his Potters are playing catch up, not just in terms of points but seemingly also quality after being given the run around by Leeds.

It should have been different, a midfielder of Ndiaye, Allen and Etebo should have been better. We look at the performance of the latter, a 22-year old Nigerian international, in our latest spotlight piece.

Etebo arrived from Feirense in January for a fee of around £6.3m and is classed as a 'high energy' midfielder with lots of skills and tenacity. However, neither him nor his midfield partner Ndiaye impressed, he lasted just over an hour, coming off not long after Liam Cooper had grabbed Leeds' third goal.

During his time on the pitch he had attempted two shots, stoke as a whole only had nine so perhaps there were glimpses of the ability he has shining through. He made one successful dribble too, wanting to get on the ball but not seeing it enough to be effective.

That might just sum up his performance, he made just 25 passes throughout the game, but 80% of those were successful. That isn't a bad figure by any stretch of the imagination, certainly not the success rate. It might have been better if he'd actually got onto the ball more, rather than the game largely passing him by.

He did play two long passes too, but all in all his contribution just wasn't plentiful enough. He showed when he had the ball he wanted to run with it, pass it and make things happen, but in his 63-minute spell he just didn't see it enough to impact the game.
