Swansea City goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt has admitted he is not happy with his lack of playing time at the Liberty Stadium this campaign.

The 30-year-old was the club's first-choice goalkeeper throughout the second half of last term, but he has been restricted to EFL Cup appearances so far this season with Freddie Woodman making the number one jersey his own.

The Newcastle United loanee has started every Championship match following his arrival over the summer, which has left Nordfeldt playing second fiddle much like he did when Lukasz Fabianski was at the club.

Nordfeldt was signed by Swansea when they were a Premier League side in the summer of 2015, but he only managed to make two league appearances during his first three seasons at the club as a result of Fabianski's impressive form.

The Swede now finds himself in a similar situation despite making 22 league appearances last term, and he has revealed his frustrations in an interview with Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen.

When asked about what the future holds for him, Nordfeldt admitted his discontent with sitting on the bench before revealing that there has been some interest in his services from other clubs.

"That question isn't up to me at all, it's up to Swansea. But I'm not happy and I don't suppose they think it's good that I'm sitting where I'm sitting either, if you can put it like that," he said.

"It is quite obvious that they are not happy to pay what they do to me when I am not contributing. Especially considering the situation the club is in financially.

"There is good interest but then it will work with the club in question as well."

So, would Swansea miss Nordfeldt if he was to depart the Liberty Stadium in search of game time?

We take closer look at the numbers...

Nordfeldt has played a total of 4060 minutes during the four years he has spent in South Wales, with this amounting to just 46 appearances. This figure reveals how Nordfeldt has never truly established himself at the club, and has often been forced to settle for a place on the substitutes bench.

He has conceded an average of 1.26 goals per game during these minutes, while he also averages 2.53 saves per match. These are reasonable statistics, but they reflect that Nordfeldt has often provided a solid rather than spectacular presence in Swansea's goal. It should also be considered that a reasonable number of Nordfeldt's appearances have come in cup matches where Swansea were faced with lower-placed opposition.

Nordfeldt is comfortable with playing the ball out from the back and this would have been a big factor that convinced Swansea to sign him back in 2015. He has displayed this during his time at the club with his 7.23 ball distributions per game and 97.9% short passing accuracy reflecting his competency with playing the ball to his defenders.

However, his 63.4% long passing accuracy reflects how he struggles when tasked with playing longer balls. Swansea commonly look to avoid doing this anyway, but they would still want Nordfeldt to be competent in this area if required.

The main issue many Swansea fans have with Nordfeldt is his inability to claim crosses. While his short passing from the back makes him capable of delivering the club's playing style, he has frequently failed to reach deliveries in the box that the likes of Fabianski and Woodman are capable of handling with ease.

This means that Nordfeldt has never really been able to win over the Swansea faithful during his time at the club, and there are not many Swansea fans who will be sad to lose his abilities if a move materialises in the near future.
