It has emerged that Swansea remain the likely destination for 19-year-old Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher, after his loan spell with Charlton Athletic officially came to an end yesterday.

Gallagher had been due to spend the full length of the season at Charlton, but that has not materialised.

It leaves Swansea in a good position to get the 19-year-old on a loan deal until the end of the season, as Chelsea have made it clear that they want Gallagher to be playing regular football, effectively ruling out any Premier League interest.

Journalist Alan Nixon confirmed on Monday afternoon that Swansea were in pole position for the young talent, with South London Press Sports Editor Richard Cawley stating today that a deal between the player and the club is close to being wrapped up.

Here, we analyse the first half of his season at Charlton and discuss if he would be a good fit at Swansea if the reports are correct...

QUIZ: Can you remember Swansea's last fifteen league positions?

The 19-year-old has taken the Championship by storm this term, in what is his first season of senior men's football.

He has shown maturity beyond his years at Charlton, and Swansea could be getting a player who scores goals and is also impressive at winning back possession in his own half.

Gallagher has six league strikes to his name this season, as well as two assists. He has shown to be a capable box-to-box midfielder that likes to venture forward and shoot from distance.

That has been shown in the amount of dribbles he has completed - 61 out of a possible 118. That is a success rate of over 51%.

Most impressively, though, Gallagher has also completed a total of 101 ball interceptions, showing that he can cut out the passing lanes of the opposition when required.

Gallagher's preferred position is in central midfield, but he has also started in the Number 10 role six times this term, according to WhoScored.

Swansea often setup in a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 under Steve Cooper, and Gallagher will have to displace players if he is to find his way into the starting XI.

From the statistics, Gallagher would be a welcome addition to the Swansea team, with Steve Cooper the ideal coach to get the best out of the 19-year-old considering his experience with coach younger age groups with England and Liverpool respectively.
