West Brom have had a terrific start to the season and find themselves unbeaten in the Championship after seven games.

Slaven Bilic has guided the Baggies to a solid beginning as they look for a return to the Premier League in the new campaign.

But remember when West Brom won the Championship?

The historic season of 2007-2008 was one that left its stamp on many Baggies supporters as they saw their team lift the title, whilst reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup in the same campaign.

Tony Mowbray had built his side into a real threat, and they proved it by romping home to the league title.

One man key to their success was Slovenian midfielder, Robert Koren. He was relatively unknown when Mowbray took him to the Hawthorns, but he went onto be a crucial player for the Baggies in their climb to the top division.

His creative play and ability to hit shots from long-range made him an instant fan favourite at the club. Koren went on to play Premier League football with the Baggies before sealing a switch to Hull City.

At the Tigers, he achieved yet another promotion and played another key role as he netted nine times during Hull's charge for the big time. Throughout his career, he scored a number of goals for Slovenia, including a winner against Algeria in the 2010 World Cup.

But where is the midfielder now?

After leaving England back in 2014, the midfielder went to Australia to play with Melbourne City, one of the top sides in the A-League.

After his stint out in Australia he went back to his native country of Slovenia to play for a club close to his heart, Dravograd, the same side that he played most of his youth career for.

The 38-year-old decided to help the younger age groups of Dravograd as well as earning himself a UEFA coaching diploma in summer just past.

Koren is certainly earning his stripes whilst coaching and has recently moved to a bigger Slovenian side called NK Celje where he will work with coach, Dusan Kosic, to try and get the team into European competitions.

Celje finished fifth last season, and if they had come fourth then they would have been in the Europa League potentially facing sides such as Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It's set to be an interesting coaching career for the talented midfielder, but maybe one day we'll see him return to England.
