Grimsby Town have had to spend the last two seasons looking enviously at the rivals Lincoln City, wondering what went wrong at Blundell Park.

They came out of the National League the year before the Imps, but instead of kicking on as their county rivals have, they've struggled to keep their heads afloat. Marcus Bignot and Russell Slade both lost their jobs last season, with Michael Jolley entrusted to taking over the Mariners.

He saved them from a humiliating relegation last season, but started this campaign badly. Things appear to be working out now, they were the in-form side ahead of their defeat against Mansfield this week.

The future is looking brighter and whilst they might lose sight of Lincoln for a season or two, they're getting their own house in order and planning for the future.

With the new dawn comes a fresh impetus to attract players and we've selected six we think would be perfect for Jolley's revolution.

Amond is the former Grimsby man currently scoring goals for Newport, but if the money could be found they'd love to take him back to Blundell Park.

He's a player they're bound to be monitoring, Jolley is doing a great job but will know bringing back a former favourite would make him even more popular with the fans.

Stevens has recently been recalled by Peterborough from Slough Town and he'd make a great addition to the Town squad.

He's scored regularly in his loan spells and would benefit from some League Two action, which Grimsby could provide. they've been a little shot shy this season and Stevens could alleviate that.

Tshimanga is an exciting young forward currently with Oxford City, but he knows Lincolnshire having been with Boston United last season.

He impressed in the recent cup run, scoring a hat trick in the first round and he'd be a great project to replace Siriki Demebele who left for Peterborough in the summer.

The 32-year old has been out of the game since leaving Boston United earlier this season, but still has plenty to offer in League Two.

He fell out of favour at Sincil Bank a year ago and lost his way in football, but he's a free agent and is still revered as a Grimsby hero.

Midfielder Husin is likely to leave Notts County as they cut their wage bill this window and would make a great addition to the Grimsby squad.

He's been with Reading and Crystal Palace and would help bolster the midfield options available to Jolley.

Maguire-Drew is a left sided winger currently with Leyton Orient in the National League, but he's got the goals and assists in him to thrive in League Two.

He's tricky on the ball and can play on both flanks as well as up front.
