Wycombe Wanderers will be hoping they can hold their nerve in the race for promotion into the Championship this season under the guidance of Gareth Ainsworth.

The Chairboys are currently sat eighth in the League One table, but are just three points adrift of the automatic promotion places heading towards the conclusion of this year's campaign.

We take a look at SIX of the worst ever signings that Wycombe Wanderers have made over the years.

Find out who they are, on the next page....

Aylott had previously been on the books with Chelsea at the start of his footballing career.

But he signed for Wycombe Wanderers on loan in 1993, and certainly had a forgetful spell with the club.

He made just three appearances for the Chairboys, and it didn't come as a surprise to see him leave the club at the end of the season and never return.

Duberry is another player that started his professional career with Chelsea.

He signed for Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 2009, after the defender didn't have his contract with Championship side Reading renewed.

But the centre-back made 19 appearances, and certainly didn't perform well in the majority of those.

The striker really struggled in his time with Wycombe Wanderers.

Onibuje arrived on loan at Wycombe from Swindon Town, and the Chairboys made his loan spell a permanent one, but made minimal impact.

He was then released shortly after these dismal performances and joined Shrewsbury Town later that season.

Carlos López is a player that arguably had the most forgetful spell with Wycombe Wanderers in their history.

He made just one appearance for the club in the 2001/02 season, before leaving the club to join Mexican side C.D. Atlético Yucatán where he finished his playing career in 2003.

A truly awful signing for both parties involved here.

Comyn-Platt signed for Wycombe Wanderers on loan from Bolton Wanderers in 2005.

But the loan spell was disastrous for Comyn-Platt as he made just five appearances for the club, before returning to Bolton, where he was subsequently released at the end of that season.

Ugwu had previously been on the books with Championship club Reading, but signed for Wycombe Wanderers in September 2015.

The forward scored just once in 31 appearances for the Chairboys, and it didn't come as a surprise to see him leave the club after just one season with them when his contract expired in the summer of 2016.

Ugwu is now playing his football in the National League for Ebbsfleet United.
