Stoke City have had their fair share of ups and downs over the years, with the club now playing their football in the Championship.

Michael O'Neill's side are struggling in the second tier as well, and are sat 17th in the table, and just three points clear of the relegation zone with nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

We take a look at SIX of the worst ever Stoke City signings over the years.

Agudelo arrived at Stoke in January 2014, but failed in his pursuit of a work permit.

However, the Potters proceeded to complete the signing, and loaned him out to Dutch side Utrecht for the remainder of the 2013/14 season.

Stoke mutually terminated his contract in May 2014 after failing to obtain a work permit for a second time.

Wimmer is still with Stoke City, but has spent recent seasons out on loan away from the bet365 Stadium.

The central defender was signed for a fee believed to be in the region of £18m, and he certainly hasn't justified that transfer fee at all.

It'll be surprising to see him remain with the club for much longer.

The less said about Berahino's time with the club, the better.

He scored just five goals in 56 appearances for the Potters, and had his fair share of off-the-field problems during his time with the club.

The forward's time with the club came to an end in 2019, and he is now playing his football with Belgian side Zulte-Waregem.

Sonko signed for Stoke back in 2008 for a fee believed to be in the region of £2m.

But he struggled to make a notable impact in his time with the club, and was later sent out on loan to Hull City.

It was a similar story with the Tigers for Sonko, as they were relegated from the Premier League.

Davies' time with the Potters was blighted with a number of injury problems.

He only made four appearances in his time with the club, after picking up another injury against Hartlepool United in the FA Cup.

He left Stoke City in 2012.

Jese Rodriguez arrived with Stoke with an impressive CV to his name, but his off-the-field troubles caught up with him whilst the club were struggling in the Premier League.

He showed glimpses of his quality at times, but was no-where near good enough on a consistent basis for the Stoke City team.

Stoke terminated his loan deal after he caused issues with other members of the Stoke City squad.
