Rochdale will be continuing to fight for survival if and when the season resumes as the League One relegation battle continues.

Four points clear of Tranmere, there's still plenty of work to do but, whilst we wait to see if the campaign is even going to get up and running again, we've been taking a look at players past at Spotland.

Here, then, are six of the worst signings Dale have made...

Neal Trotman had a tough time at Rochdale in the one season he was there.

His debut saw a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, he was sent-off against Oldham - leading to criticism from manager Steve Eyre - and he scored an own goal at the beginning of September against Stevenage in another loss.

Local media described him as a 'big disappointment' after what was a tough season for him.

Roger Denton joined on loan in the 70s from Bradford City and didn't exactly make the best of impressions.

The defender wasn't at the club long and fans look back on his wayward passing and mis-control as a source for ridicule unfortunately.

Morike Sako was a towering presence - theoretically at least - and earned a contract with Dale in August 2006.

By December 2006, he was told he would not be staying put, though, and he'd eventually move to German side St Pauli.

Michael Simpkins left Rochdale after just a season at the club.

He'd move into non-league football not long after and perhaps that was more his level than the Football League.

Leight RMI, Worksop and Grantham Town have all been on his CV since.

Keith Barker now plays first-class cricket for Hampshire and it appears that moving away from football has been a wise choice.

He joined Rochdale on loan from Blackburn but failed to hit the net and brief spells after at St Patrick's and Northwich Victoria would mark the end of his footballing days.

Guy Branston played for a huge number of clubs - ranging from Rotherham United to Aldershot.

Among his teams, he played very briefly for Rochdale and did not play much at all.

A very brief loan spell in 2007 saw him make four appearances before moving on.
