Sheffield Wednesday will have been looking to make a long-awaited return into the Premier League this season, however it was a disappointing campaign for the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday have had their fair share of players who simply haven't hit the ground running as they would have originally hoped for in recent years.

Bothroyd spent the 2012/13 season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday, as he arrived from QPR.

But he failed to make a significant impact with the Owls, as he scored just one goal in 14 appearances before returning to Loftus Road after his loan spell at Hillsborough came to an end.

The former Arsenal youngster arrived at Hillsborough in 2007, and the club's supporters would have been hoping that he could hit the ground running with Sheffield Wednesday.

That wasn't the case though, as Jeffers spent the majority of his time in the treatment room out injured, before leaving the club three seasons after he signed for them.

He made 60 appearances for the Owls, scoring just five goals in total.

The Scotsman signed for Sheffield Wednesday in 2010, as he penned a two-year deal with the Owls after his contract with Derby County came to an end.

Teale made 48 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday, but mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the club after one disappointing season, before moving back to Scotland in favour of a move to St Mirren.

Corry caught Sheffield Wednesday's eye with some impressive performances from Irish side UCD, and made the move to Hillsborough in 2012.

But he made just ten appearances for the Owls in three years, and seemingly never settled into life with the English side, much to the frustration of the club's supporters.

Bus signed for Sheffield Wednesday back 2015, but struggled to make any sort of impact for the Owls in his time with the club.

In just ten appearances, he scored once and is now playing his football with Romanian side Gaz Metan Mediaș.

Ranger had a spell to forget with Sheffield Wednesday, as his off-the-field issues caught up on him.

In total, he made eight appearances for the Owls, but only managed to score two goals for the club before his loan spell with them came to a disappointing end.
