Whereas it is fair to say that Northampton Town have signed their fair share of talented individuals in recent, there have also been times where they have failed to recruit sufficiently.

Here, we take a look at SIX of the biggest Northampton flops...

Signed from Leeds United in 2008, Leon Constantine ultimately failed to live up to expectations at Northampton.

After only managing to score twice in 36 appearance for the Cobblers, the forward left the club to join Hereford United where his struggles with consistency continued.

When you consider that JJ Hooper failed to find the back of the net during his first spell at Sixfields, it came as quite a shock when the Cobblers opted to re-sign him on loan from Port Vale in 2016.

Equally as ineffective in this particular stint, the forward netted just one goal in 13 appearances before returning to Vale Park in 2017.

After illustrating some real signs of promise whilst playing for the likes of Hereford and Cheltenham Town, Steve Guinan would have been wanting to make a lasting impact during his time at Northampton.

However, the forward instead was only able to produce the goods on a sporadic basis as he scored six goals in 46 appearances before making the switch to Kidderminster Harriers in 2011.

Loaned to the club by Tottenham Hotspur for the first-half of the 2014/15 campaign, Jordan Archer produced a number of underwhelming displays for the Cobblers in League Two before moving to Millwall in January.

Whilst the shot-stopper has since made drastic improvements to his game, his time at Northampton was extremely disappointing as he conceded 27 goals in 16 appearances.

Signed by former Cobblers manager Gary Johnson in 2011, Bas Savage failed to score a single goal for the club despite featuring on 10 occasions.

After spending three years with Thai side TOT Sport Club, the forward opted to retire from professional football.

Brought in on loan from Swansea City, Daniel Alfei struggled to cope with life in League Two as he delivered a host of dismal defensive displays before having his deal cut short in January 2015.

Following spells with the likes of Mansfield Town and Llanelli Town, the 27-year-old opted to join Haverfordwest County last year.
