Charlton Athletic have had their fair share of flops walk through the doors.

The Valley has seen some fine players over the years, and some not so.

It's a club with a prestigious Premier League history and they've seen the likes of Darren Bent, Matt Holland and Chris Powell grace the turf, and they've had some respected managers at the helm too.

But to match that, The Valley has welcomed some woeful names in its recent history, and here we take a look at six of the biggest flops to have played for the club:

A comical name wherever he's been, Djimi Traore is actually one of the most decorated players to have ever played for the club, with a Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup all to his name. But his time in South East London is best forgotten.

Signing on the same day as Traore, in possibly the worst double-signing in Premier League history, was Amdy Faye. This brute of a player left just after the start of his second season at The Valley.

This man has over 300 appearances to his name for Bournemouth, but his 45 at Charlton are best forgotten. Francis signed from Southend United in 2010 and was shipped off to Eddie Howe's Bournemouth after an uninspiring season in League One.

Going back to the start of the century, and Tahar El Khalej is a name that won't sit well with Charlton fans. The Moroccan midfielder made just a handful of appearances in half-a-season before returning to his homeland, where he played a season in the Moroccan second-tier before being released by them as well.

One of the Premier League's best ever forwards, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's time at Charlton didn't do his career justice. He scored just two goals in 25 Premier League appearances in the 2006/07 season, his only for the club.

A more recent entry into this list, Iranian striker Reza Ghoochannejhad scored five goals in 42 appearances in total for the club, with loan-spells splitting his time at The Valley which eventually came to an abrupt end in June 2016 - he left for Heerenveen, where he scored 19 Eredivisie goals in his first season.
