Sheffield United have had a number of signings over the years that have made a positive impact at Bramall Lane. 

The Blades are currently playing their football in the Premier League, but have struggled throughout this year's campaign so far.

Chris Wilder's side are rooted to the bottom of the top-flight, and only have one point to their name this season, and they'll be hoping they can make the necessary additions to their squad to survive in the Premier League this term.

We take a look at SIX players that have played for Sheffield United, that were signed on free transfers, that have gone on to play their part in an impressive few seasons for the club.

Duffy signed for the club in the summer of 2016 after being released by Birmingham City.

The midfielder went on to play a key role for Sheffield United, as they won promotion into the Championship in his first season with the club.

Duffy made 121 appearances in total for the Blades, before being released at the end of the 2019/20 season.

Fleck signed a three-year contract with Sheffield United in July 2016.

He had previously been on the books with Coventry City, and has gone on to feature for Sheffield United regularly over the years.

Fleck has made 177 appearances in total for Sheffield United, which includes six appearances in all competitions this term for Chris Wilder's side.

Basham is another player that is still with Sheffield United.

The defender originally signed for the Blades in July 2014, after his contract with Blackpool reached a conclusion at the end of the 2013/14 season.

Basham is still featuring regularly in the Premier League for the Blades, and was certainly a shrewd signing on a free transfer.

Porter signed for Sheffield United in 2011 after his time with Derby County reached a conclusion.

He scored 23 goals in 118 appearances for the Blades, in a four-year spell with the club.

Porter struggled for consistent game time after the arrival of Dave Kitson, and later left the club at the end of the 2014/15 campaign on a free transfer.

Unsworth after departing Portsmouth in 2005, and went on to make 40 appearances for Sheffield United.

The experienced defender played his part in the Blades' promotion-winning season in 2006, as they finished runners-up in the Championship.

Quinn signed for Sheffield United on a free transfer in 2005 after starting his senior career with Irish side St Patrick's Athletic.

The midfielder made 237 appearances in total for the Blades, and played for them in the Premier League, Championship and League One in his time with the club.

He went on to join Hull City for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2012.
