Nottingham Forest certainly have a knack of developing a host of talented youngsters, with plenty of big names emerging from the Nigel Doughty Academy in recent years.

The likes of Michael Dawson, Jermaine Jenas and Andy Reid have all played at the highest level in their career, with Dawson and Jenas both playing for Spurs on the grandest stage of them all - the Champions League.

Fast forward to the modern day, and Forest are still developing a host of talented youngsters, selling them on for huge profits too.

In the summer, Ben Osborn and Arvin Appiah were sold to Sheffield United and UD Almeria respectively, bringing in more than £10m in transfer fees.

Matty Cash and Joe Worrall are two more homegrown stars that have been hugely impressive for the Reds this term, helping Sabri Lamouchi's side climb to fifth spot in the league standings.

They have both been linked with a move to the Premier League this term, so who will be the next player to burst onto the first-team scene.

Here, we take a look at six wonderkids you need to know about...

Johnson is a player who Forest fans will already know a great deal about.

The young midfielder has already made five appearances in all competitions this season, featuring twice against bitter rivals Derby County.

He has also impressed for Wales' under-21 side, and he could be a very useful player for Lamouchi in the next couple of years.

Mighten is undoubtedly one for the future, and the attacker has already made one appearance for the Reds this season - he came on for the final 12 minutes of the Reds' Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal.

The young winger has already impressed on the international scene, scoring a hat-trick for the England under-18's against Australia in September.

The 17-year-old was linked with Manchester United last season, and is surely destined for bigger things.

Asare is another talented player who Lamouchi's eyes should be on.

The powerful, versatile midfielder has been a regular for Forest's under-23 side this season, helping the development squad fight at the top end of the Professional Development League.

He signed his first professional contract with the Reds last season, and could be a really exciting player for Forest in the future.

Forest have so many options in midfield, but he possesses real physical prowess and power on the ball, so he could be an interesting option for the Frenchman in the future and a perfect long-term replacement for Samba Sow.

Fornah has recently been training with the first-team which suggests that he could be set for game-time in the future.

The midfielder is a really exciting defensive midfielder who came through the ranks at Brighton and Hove Albion, and has really took his game up a level or two since joining Forest.

Forest have the likes of John Bostock, Alfa Semedo, Samba Sow, Ben Watson and Brennan Johnson, all ahead of him in the pecking order, but if he keeps working hard, the sky is the limit for him.

Edser is slightly older than the aforementioned players but he is a very exciting player for the future.

The 20-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan with Woking, helping the Cards win promotion from the National League South.

The defensive midfielder has also spent this season on loan with Woking again, making 14 appearances in all competitions and helping the Surrey club climb to eighth spot in the National League table.

Gomis is currently experiencing life out on loan in League Two for the second time in two years.

The young forward spent the second half of last season on loan with Notts County, and produced a series of impressive performances for the Magpies.

This season, he has scored two goals in 14 games for Macclesfield Town, and is starting to get better and better in mens' football.
